Ferland

I have a pair of Ferland gloves I bought a few years ago and picked up a new pair of DR gloves this year that look almost exactly the same. I believe Ferland and DR are the same company, but they just used to release equipment under both names and now just brand all the equipment DR and sometimes DR by Ferland. So if you're looking for Ferland equipment you should try searching for DR equipment

Yes. Ferland and DR are now both owned by the same company. Igloovikski Inc. link here The sticks run under the ferland brand and the protective as well as the goalie line is branded D&R. I think both also offer low end skates as well.

yes, you guys are correct. Ferland and DnR were both owned by IglooVikski. Last year, the decision was made to drop the Ferland name. All product in North America will be branded with DR Sports or DR logo.

In some parts of the world you will be able to find new product under the Ferland name, as Igloo has sold the Ferland name to the European Distributor of DR products.

under the DR brand, you will also find AL21 accessories. Igloo purchased AL21 a couple years ago.

there will be some exciting new DR products for 2006

The Ferland gloves that you had in the past are not the same ones made by DR Ferland/Iglooviski. Michele Ferland sold the company and now makes special run gloves for pro's and hockey companies. If you want a glove like the old Ferland's you used to use, contact Michele. In my opinon, nobody makes a glove better than Michele.

The Canadian made DRs are actually pretty nice and even some of the import gloves are a good value.

Aren´t those D&R "Classic Line" gloves pretty similar to the oldschool Ferland? The HG5000 is also a pretty traditional glove I think.

The "vintage" gloves are sweet, the palm is very thin and supple. I swear you could put your hand on a quarter and tell if it was heads or tails. I don't have the catalog in front of me but the classic four or five roll gloves are very nice.

looks like inno worked with ferland for a while too, the shafts are in inno flexes

DR/Ferland Sticks are made in Europe. Any sticks you find here are piggy-backed from Euro distributors. To my knowledge they didn't work with Inno.

Yes, the D&R Legend gloves are 5-roll and have a pro spec goat skin palm. They retail for over 200$ over here, though. That´s why I stayed away.

Regarding the Ferland sticks. I´ve heard that the composite blades are made in China (or at least were up to last year when I got this info). The wood sticks look really similar to sticks I´ve seen made in the Czech Republic so you could be right. I´ve got the complete catalogue from the distributor that penny207 mentioned but you can´t tell from that.

Soon to be a thing of the past. However, we will still have the same style glove... just not made in Montreal anymore!

for 2006, there will be the HG4505/4504

also, look for a high end nylon glove (not classic design)

Damn, I'm selling them for $89 or $99. They have been popular with some of the beer league guys around here.

Sounds like I should buy up some of the rep samples that are floating around and keep an eye on the closeout lists.
