tps xn10 vs. response plus

Recommended Posts

hey, i tried to search for this but couldnt find anything. Ive had a response and response rubber and now am lookin for a another stick and i wanna stick with tps. Ive heard good things about the xn10 and response plus. If im coming from the original response would i be better off with the response plus or is the xn10 a better bet. Do they both have a similar feel, cause i loved my other responses. i just dont have enough money to try a bunch of sticks, but enough for one of them.

The shot velocity is better with the XN10 and both are good sticks. I don't think either one feels quite as nice as the old Response for puckhandling.

Quick Q- does the adrenaline have as much "kick" as the XN10 does shooting wise?

Im pretty sure the adrenaline is the same stick as the xn10 but it is wrapped with kevlar to improve the durability. Also, it has shock inserts in the blade to give it a better feel.

I'll let you know as soon as my P31 Adrenaline Control shows up

I have both and like both. Both are increadibly light and balanced. The one thing I'd say though is that the XN10 seems to be whipper than the R+ for the same flex rating. In my case, I feel comfortable with the XN10 Stiff flex but on the R+ I am fine with Regular flex.

That P31 looks almost like a nash curve, only a little more of a hook and less open. I like...

It's nothing like a Nash. P31 is a heel curve and much less open. It also has much less rocker on the bottom and is a lower lie.

To me the P31 looked more like a mid curve. But, it does seem like a heel curve that I like.

I have a couple of them, the closest retail curves would be a P106 or Tucker/Perry with less loft.

On Topic: After 2 ice sessions I really like my XN10 Response. Whip flex is quite strange, and very whippy (duh...). My passes are more accurate on both hands with the stick, but this may be due to the Nash pattern instead of Coffey.

Incorrect statement. There are no shock inserts in the blade.

The shock relief is in the handle area of the stick, 6 inches in from the plug. It is a spiral rubber piece that is made by SIMS.

Are you sure?

Like a Modano/Forsberg, but a little more open?

They look sweet. Will you be carrying any P31 tapered blades or Adrenaline Controls?

It's really not too much like a Modano, it's a real heel curve.

I just ordered a couple more P31 R2 blades for myself since they are out of P31 ACs.

Do you have a timetable/guess for P31 ACs?

I was told a few weeks and a minimum of at least six if they are not in stock.

O.K., I know you said it was most similar to a Bauer P106 (which is quite unique as well), but if you had to compare it to an Easton retail, which one would it be most like? The Drury? Thanks Chadd.

P.S. Can anyone order single, non-retail OPS from TPS or would I have to go through an LHS?

there is no "close" Easton pattern. To compare it to any would be like asking what Easton pattern is most like a Brett Hull pro pattern. Any pattern is still going to be pretty different.

No major manufacturer sells direct to individuals, including TPS. Find a TPS dealer that knows what they're doing and they can take care of you.

My yellow Repsonse P31 pattern is a deep heel that is very open, lie 5. It does have a more sloping curve than a retail Drury, but I would say that it is just as open. The P31 R2 wood pattern is more of a mid-heel curve with not as much loft.

lol. Freaking Brett Hull curve is insane. My friend has an old Triflex Gold, in his pro curve and flex. That thing is insane. I tried it out, and I was only able to get one solid slapper off with that curve. Just insane.
