isn't the duty for england like 27% or something like that? it would make sense to get something made in the EU is the duty on them is 27% of retail right?

Dont mean to be an idiot, but who cares if your stick is made in Finland or Canada? Its the same company overall.

But not nescessarily the same stick. (see the Vectors)

I know that CCM/Jofa/Koho/RBK sticks for the European market are all made in the same factory in Finland. As for Bauer sticks that would be a first, though.

A little off topic but as Chadd said taxes are a reason but the EC also has pretty limited import quotas for Asian countries which caused lots of trouble for importers this year (especialy clothing of course) as their suff was held at the ports or destroyed once these quotas exceded. I am not 100% if that is applied to sticks as well but since there is no custom code specifically for hockey sticks they will most like run as misc. sporting equipment which is definitly limited for import ex. Asia.

You would be amazed at the number of Customs codes for stuff. I worked for a cargo airline for 3 years and I had to deal with Customs. Hockey sticks won't be "miscellaneous."

You would think. But so many people ask where it's made nowadays, it gets you wondering. I'm assuming it's a quality assurance issue or something. Like, maybe in Finland it's better than in China. Or Mexico is worse than China. Along those lines.

I haven't noticed issues when two different countries of origin are mentioned myself. But I have heard about them.

I guess you can look at the Graf Canada/Graf Switzerland case. People that have bought Graf Canada products have had major complaints, whereas people that bought from Graf Switzerland seem to have fewer complaints.

Now don't go completely by my example above because I know Graf Can and Graf Switz are two different companies, that being, Graf Can operating under liscense or something like that. But I think you get my point.

I know J.R. The books we get are like 900 pages or so. I´m an air cargo forwarding agent myself but over here there ain´t no code for hockey sticks. At least not when I was still into imports about 2 years ago. Anyway, that was just a thought coming to mind I´m sure theres other reasons as well. For example pants for THC were made in the czech republic (even way before they became an EC country) so taxes can´t be the only reason.
