I need a strong stick

Recommended Posts

I think the real curse here is the curse of the OPS hype monster. That aside, the Ultra Lite, I think, is the benchmark for shaft durability. Otherwise, I might be craaaaazy, but you might try using a wood stick.

EDIT: How's this for durable? I still have an Ultra Lite from the late '90s with the brown graphics job that's going strong with very little signs of wear. That shaft is a tank.

Agree, For instance I can't feel any difference between useing a Taper shaft and a Standard.

Written all the standard's on a post above, and for Taper I've used Bauer XV (87)& Easton Synthesis (100).

The only noticeble difference is in regard to what blade(Lie, Mid/heel, loft) I use, which in return makes a huge difference. And the flex of the shaft ofcourse.

I truly feel one would be best of to buy a UL and then experiment with blades, and then stick with the one that suites you.

You definantly can't go wrong that way. :)

go find an Easton Z-Core or an ultrA/Graphite on ebay, it's ridiculously durable, oh it weights a ton as well. Pair it with an Easton Ultra Graphite blade and you have a bullet proof stick.

I've been using Montreal 5100's/ Inno 1100's for three years now. The only one I had break snapped about two months and 15 games after someone stepped on it and took a chunk out of it. I'm using a 85-90 flex (280-260) so they are not real stiff. I go through OPS's pretty quick so I'm just sticking with the good o'l 2 piece. Most durable blades by far are the old Hespeler F4's. I have one that I use now and then thats 3 years old and is missing a chunk out of the toe. I just recently bought 4 Roberts pattern F4's from perani's. similiar to an iginla there is a pic floating around on the board. I'm real tough on blades and these things just keep going. Really worth the $$ and perform decent. The combo is not that heavy either 315g for the shaft and around 160g for the blade so your coming in around 480g.

It'll warp, which is almost as detrimental.

Supposedly, Shanahan would go thru multiple aluminums in one game b/c they'd perma-bend after shots...

3 shots for him

Are the ST blades really that durable? I was looking for a blade for ball hockey that has shot velocity and good durability, my inno blade is pretty much cracked all along the bottom.

the blades are so durable that i could deep fry them in cement and still have the same feel for the puck.

I can tell that you and ST's dont get along very well :P

Well ive seen lots of nhl'ers using them so....... and as far as shot velocity goes i saw phaneuf take a one timer the other day with his ST and im sure that was over 100 MPH it was a rocket but he missed the net. :(

how do you know they are STs and not repainted SLs cuz players dont like to look down at flashy paint?

nonetheless, their blades are prob different. i got an ST for sending back my regular silver synergy, i dont know if its me in love with the SL blade, or that i liked the reg silver syn bomb better

plus 85 flex in an ST is nothing compared to the 85 in the SL. i can flex the SL like a rubber band which is what i like, the ST feels liek 100, which is bogus

bauer endure cud be wat ur looking for..altho neva tried it...

Is that English?

I shall re-write this one...

"The Bauer Endure might be the stick to fit your needs. However, this opinion goes unweighted as I have never had the pleasure of trying it out myself."

Yeah, little better.
