Lol...you can guarantee in any Ovechkin thread someone will start bitching about Crosby..

Having said that, I saw a highlight of ovechkin score, then absolutely run a guy over. Can't get enough of it, a 20 yr old guy laying out D who have been playing for 10+ years

Yeah, but on paper they look different. However, on ice they are both squat. Caps did have great comeback win last night vs Habs. AO with crazy goal off goalie from awful angle. And SC's 2 goals in 44 seconds were amazing because he IS 18 years old. The second goal on the backhander was totally old school stuff. Its fine to hate him but their are lots of guys in this league with 2,3,4,5 years experience simply not doing what an 18 year old does. That is the part to remember.

Stevens retired just in time

It would have been a pity seeing him scraping himself off the ice after Ovy ran him over

other way around i think, stevens is the hardest hitter of all time, wehn ovechkin does that move where he puts the puck between his skates, bawango, ovechkin back in moscow eating out of a tube

It would have been fun to watch...Although totally unfair because of Stevens age. Ovy is pretty smart out there and I think he would pick his moves smarter as well

when he goes on the ice on th efly does he see if stevens is on? prob not, he'd do that move against any dman in the show. dont get me wrong i like him better than crosby, but stevens would murder him

Considering I watched Domi consistantly walk around Stevens for a few playoff series and "hard nosed" regular season games, I don't think Ovechkin would have many problems doing the game. Stevens took alot of chances and was covered up by the great D surrounding him. When he was walked around someone was immediately grabbed so they couldn't get by. Not alot of people saw anything, but the highlights from Stevens.

Ovechkin would give Stevens a lot of trouble. Ovechkin is fast , strong and keeps his head up. Plus he knows how to take a hit. I saw him get leveled in game and get right back up.

All of Stevens big hits over the last couple years came from guys with their head down on the other side of the ice and he came rushing over to throw an elbow at their head. One on one, he had to grab to keep guys in front of him.

I agree with DarkStar. At this point in time, the first set of guys is about as useful as the second set. They only look better on paper. I mean, c'mon, when was the last time John LeClair was good?

I think Ovechkin is amazing, and Crosby is very good as well, but that said, I'd love to see both of these kids get completely mashed, just once, by Dion Phaneuf or Zdeno Chara.

I'm not sure I'll ever see Ovechkin captain a team, but I can see that he certainly wants to win and gives every game his all. He loves to win. Crosby, if he can learn to keep his trap shut until he's earned the right to speak up, I can see developing into an Yzerman or Sakic type leader - he just needs the maturity that comes with age. And on growing leaders, how can you not love Mike Richards? The kid is a winner and on certain nights, he's done it all for the Flyers. He wants to win so badly, he beats up his good buddy Corey Perry.

On Stevens, I think he was a fine Defenceman, but overrated over the last four or five years of his career.

EDIT: And Mario, a whiner? Who'dathunkit? He's probably the biggest crybaby in the history of the game. I hope Sid grows out of it.

I think you're thinking of the wrong guy. In the gold medal game ovechkin never even really got knocked down if im remembering correctly. He's more solid then people give him credit for. He stood up Tootoo after he took a run from across the ice and jumped at his head like usual

Svatos is a beast, I like him alot. It'd be amazing if he could get the Calder somehow.

I've thought that since the first time I ever saw him play.

Are you sure you're not thinking of Rostislav Olesz? Phaneuf destroyed him in open ice a while back at the WJC's and knocked him out. As far as I can recall, Phaneuf hasn't cleaned Ovechkin's clock.

Also, here's the Tootoo "hit" on Ovechkin.....lol -

And I can't tell which Canada player gets the elbow up here on Alex, but that would have killed lesser men, lol. Ovy just keeps on going.

Here's a great visual example of Ovechkin's strength and ability to not get knocked down -

Doug Murray is a big kid who is known for his hitting, and Ovechkin barely even budged. It looked like two Rams hitting each other head on...lol.

The boy's an ox. It's amazing to watch him drag three defenders with him to the net...he's like Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl.
