There are a couple of reasons why they would do such things:

-Bauer/Nike skates are heel pitched. Although you could always profile them or add heel lifts.

-Some ppl don't like the LS holder. Personally I don't like the ls steel.

actually that's all i can think of!

I have switched the steel and will now switch the holder on my 8090's

The problem is that the front of the holder is not properly centered from the factory (so I am told )

I put ICMs on my 8090s, and also a 3/16" heel lift. I like the ICM blade, it's an easier sharpen, and the holder is much stronger than LS. If I get to the point where I can't find any more ICMs, I'll go to the Pitch holder and steel.

Thanks guys so far!

I'm thinking of putting a Graf holder or Pitch holder on a 8090 to help the heel problem of the skates. Also, since I have another skates in LS1, I would like to try other holder to see whether that will help me skate or vice versa.

would love to see Pics of 8090 with different holder too!! thx

BTW, anyone know how much heavier is the Graf & Pitch holder compare to LS? This may compromise the feather weight feature of a 8090.

If all you want is a forward pitch then i recommend that you get heel lifts for your skates. It's way more cheaper and if you don't like it, it's not a huge waste of money. I heard the LS2 steel is better at holding an edge so maybe you should look at those first.

The weight may be noticeable holding the holders in your hands, but if an extra 50 grams puts that much strain on your legs, I think you should be worring about buffing your legs or man up! Too much emphasis is put on lightweight stuff now-a-days.

another thing. Not only do the cobra holders add forward pitch but Graf boots are naturally built that way as well. So it's a combination of both those things that gives Graf skates that forward pitch. Putting cobra holders on 8090s won't get that agressive lean if that's what you're looking for.

I've seen alot of NHLers with the custom+ holder on their skates!

I'm also thinking about changing my LS holder to Pitch for my Vapor XX. It seems like ever since I switched back after using T-Blades, my holder / steel feels funny. It just doesn't feel right. Would you guys say the Pitch holder is much better than the LS? I heard the steel on the Pitch is really good?

Dont mean to threadjack but, I figured Id ask here instead of starting a new thread; How hard is it to put pitch's on flexlite 10's coming from LS2's? Do I have to drill new hjoles and what not?

Any online sites selling the PITCH holders?

Peranis...Like 90 bucks!

That's MSRP, can't advertise for less.
