Recommend me some elbow pads

Recommended Posts

I'm in the market for some new elbow pads and I'm looking for suggestions.

I'm playing in a no check mens league so I don't need a suit of armor. I'm looking for a non bulky, non restrictive elbow pad that feels broken in right out of the box.

There is no LHS so I can't go try them on.

I like the line of Nike V elbow pads. I use the V-11, and they are very mobile, yet have fine protection. Easton also makes a good line.

I'm a big fan of the Bauer 8000. I moved to that from the Vapor 4 from Cooper Techniflex. That three piece system gives great mobility and comfort, and the higher bicep pad protects some of what shoulders would have if I wore them.

i've been using the sleeve style lacrosse elbow pads/ slash guards for the past few seasons and i love them. they are soooo flexible, and their made for lacrosse so they can take any amount of slashing that you might endure. deffinately my favorite thing. check out the ones by warrior :D

Lacrosse elbow pads. Honestly. I had come STX pads I was using (full check Midget Minor) and unless I fell right onto my elbow, I wouldn't feel anything. Good protection for slashing too. I had picked them up for like $20.

Most mobile things I've ever used too.

I'm not going to recommend a brand, but instead will just tell you what I like in an elbow pad.

1) JOINTS. I had a 1 piece for a while and I really had to break these suckers in before I could bend my arm the way I would like to.. I found out that a lot of middle end/ upper end and even some budget end elbow pads have 2 or 3 piece construction, letting them bend naturally with your arm.

2) Low profile. I hate having a knob poking out of my jersey.. Just a personal preference.

The DR EP44s have a big elbow cap but are very comfy and move very well, as they are made of 3 different pieces. I cut off the three elastic straps holding the bicep protection in place and now have a very protective, comfy and mobile two piece elbow pad. You also might want to look at Jofa XX25s, they're another great minimal pad.

If you can get your hands on some Easton Ultra Lites from a few years ago, those things were so comfortable. The three piece designs. If you want mobility, the Nike v12s and v14s fit really nicely. From Jofa/Rbk, the 6k is also one that fits quite well. It seems quite bulky but surprisingly enough, they're quite mobile.
