teamriot38 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2006 OK as some can tell, I'm getting lots of new stuff lately. I think I got the tour skates qustions down pat, and I'm hopefully getting some new gloves. My question is in regards to the ccm x-ray helmets. I know they have two models and one is around 15 dollars more. Is it worth the 15 bucks extra to get the "high end" model? Curious if anyone on this site wears it? What padding does it have on the inside? Was also curious if this helmet could be customized where I could get the gel, soft padding like the bauer 8000 helmets have put inside the ccm x-ray? cause I'm pretty sure it just has the hard foam inside. I think a custom x-ray would be a sweet helmtet to have. I figured if anyone would know, it would be someone from this site. Like a bunch of f**king guru's or something. teamriot38 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2006 Did they eat children or something??? What was the matter with them? If that's the case then what would you recommend. Right now I have the ccm ht652 and I've just beat the hell out of it, is it possible to customize a helmet with the 8000's style padding, so I wouldn't have to scrounge cash to buy an actual 8000? iceholes 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2006 I sold a bunch of 1052 xrays... didnt look any different than my regular 1052...same padding etc...besides the shell of course.. And I had black ones, and even on the rink they looked solid black...so whats wrong with the X-rays?

teamriot38 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2006 How heavy can it be??? I'd be happy to take an xray helmet off your hands LOL. Just curious on why it's so hated among some. And I still ask the question, Is it possible to customize a regular helmet with the padding you'd find in a high dollar helmet (ex. 8000)

Michael9 57 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 I had the ccm x-ray helmet a the begining of last hockey season, I got a small push from behind, nothing that bad a the helemt split in 2. Literaly, stay away from this helmet
asdfa 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 why do you want to customize the padding into an 8000? you could probably find the itech hc100's on closeout. are you looking for EPP foam or are you looking for the specific triple density foam pads in the 8000? i doubt you can find the foam pads by themselves. teamriot38 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 I'm just lookig for a nice helmet with better padding than the hard foam kind i have in my ccm. And I'm really not interested in spending a boatload on a helmet.
JR Boucicaut 3801 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 You can't alter the padding...voids certification.
pldhockey4 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 what color do you plan on getting?the green and orange are HIDEOUS!!
teamriot38 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 I was gonna get blue or black, but I don't like the padding style. I would rather get some EPP like (ex. bauer 5000 helmet) padding put in for me. I thought it might be possible cause the padding can be screwed out I think? Has anyone ever tried to customize a helmet like that?
Nelly 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2006 Cody I still think that your best bet is to go with something that already has the EPP in it. You can pick up the Bauer 5000 for a reasonable price and it will pry actually be cheaper than switching out the padding (if of course you can even do that).
