Good point about the failure characteristics of Ti. It's probably a Titanium alloy and not straight Ti. If you alloyed Ti with the right metals, you could make the cage flexible enough not to shatter while still retaining alot of the weight savings.

definately...you rarely find a product thats straight up titanium...its almost always an alloy... for any lax player out there... when you buy most ti shafts (levetation brine ti)... correct me if im wrong but its and alloy...we were discussing this in my dorm recently... someone mentioned the price for crude titanium and it was unbelievable... if they were to go with an all ti cage it would be much more than 140

A cage is a cage is a cage. A stick plays a bigger role in our game compared to a cage! How many goals do you score because of your cage compared to your stick using the curve you prefer on your stick. $140 for a stick is a better investment than $140 in a cage.

youre right...once people found the advantages to an ops they/we hopped all over it... but i believe the consumer does have so,e brains and if there is no noticable advantage to the cage... it wont sell... not to mention they dont have the nhl to help them market it...

"I wont spend that much on a cage"...Thats what we all said about OPS tho ;)

Cages don't score goals for you.

would you score more with a $150 cage and a $40 stick or a $150 stick and a $40 cage

Its not the stick that makes the shooter.....you could score just as much with a 40.00 stick

just look at wayne gretzky... he scored how many goals with crapy sticks that no one would ever dream of using today.

or you could look at my brother, 140 stick and only 1 goal for the season :P

on the other hand i wouldnever spend 140 on a cage. my bauer true vision is just fine.

Dang thats cheap, we charge 400$ for a titaniun cat-eye and Hecc approved cages where I work.

wow! i heard titanium is one of the hardest materials to work with, especially for welding since it's so unreactive.

any speculation on a carbon fibre cage?

It's not like he was using Canadian Tire specials, the pros used to be very selective wth their sticks. they were getting the best made wood sticks and then when shipped to them they would further select them from there, usually half from what i've heard

If I could use the best picked brand new wood stick every practice, every game, I'd still be using wood

about the cage......If it was guarnteed not to fail due to rusting (or shattering in my face) it might be worth considering

Carbon is stiff but very brittle. Wouldn't make much sense to me.

They make mountain bike frames and rims out of carbon fiber, so the stuff can actually take some abuse. 70mph+ shot abuse I'm not sure, maybe with the right design. Still, I would imagine that in order to make a CF cage, the "wires" would need to be too thick and the weight savings would be overshadowed by the visibility loss.

The no rust part is pretty cool and might be worth the cash but I just dry my chrome cage after every skate and clean it with a little WD40 every once in a while and I haven't had any issues with rust at all. If I was going through cages at a decent clip then this cage would be an option.

the cage actually from what weve been told and saw in boston does dent like a traditional cage but it rather bends and reflexes to absorb the impact. were going to stock it but itll probably go to one of the teams we work with. Everybody is going based on price but once you feel it you may second think it
