i was just wondering if you all have ever found a broken ops in the trash can or anywhere that you just found one.

i have found 3 synergy intermediates that have been a decent length. i also found a original z-bubble and a easton t-flex.

I got a Synergy pro stock shaft at the outdoor rink last year cause I stopped my friend's older brother who was back from University of Iowa or somewhere in the states on a full ride and he broke the synergy over the net, threw it over the boards and went home. It was broken right near the connection point so I just had to chop off another half inch maybe and tossed a blade in it, used it ever since.

Z-bubble original green (kevlar) 85-flex shaft, broken right where it flares out again. It looked like the original owner stepped on it with his skate and broke it cleanly to get the stick blade out. I cleaned up the cut and turned it into a T-bubble (T-flex blades). The shaft is a tank!

Original TPS Response with a broken blade. Using the collective know-how on this site, cut the blade off at the right place and chiseled out the rest of the tenon so that it fits tapered blades. Very good combo for stickhandling feel, and I've scored 3 laser-beam slapshot goals with it this year.

Well guys , if you find a stick with a broken shaft, grab it. You can get it fully repaired good as new for about $30. I just recently started repairing broken shafts at my shop, and no-kidding, it works great. A stick that was worthless now can be renewed for $30. Even better deal if you scoffed the stick out of the garbage. Ask your LHS if they repair sticks.

A guy on my team has one that was repaired, you wouldnt know it was repaired unless he actually told you. No difference what so ever.

I found a snapped z-bubble that made a sweet mini stick. I had a lazer with it lol. I also found a goal stick that only the very tip of the handle was broken and I let whoever played in goal for street hockey use that. Most people around here know that when you break the blade on a ops you can cut it and put a blade in it  .

Except that balance will be affected. I don't know, but I'd much rather have a true OPS than one that was broken.

I'm not sure you could even tell the difference. The added weight of the repain is about 10grams. I think the benefit of having a stick repaired is if the stick is in great shape but just the shaft got snapped. If you dont have $180 in your pocket for a new one, the $30 option is certainly a good one. What's the alternative, a $25 wood stick. How much heavier and out of balance whould THAT be. :D

I wish I hadn't tossed out my XXX-Lite that snapped in 2 on a wrist shot. I would have gladly forked over the $30 just to see the results.

The SRS add they have on their site says it's about 45 grams for a repair.

Oh, and woddies are much better balanced than any OPS I've ever used. Heavier, but there's only so heavy a wood blade can get, where as a shaft is much more so.

I suspose it could be, they would know. I don't have a gram scale but I put the carbon sleve and jars of epoxy on the scale I have and it was less than 1 oz, and that included the weight of the plastic jars. Still, isn't 45 grams about an oz. That's not too much, I doubt anyone could tell the difference.
