Chara Stick

Recommended Posts

Was watching a Sens games the other day and they had a close up on Chara on the bench and was surprised to see that he uses an Easton Cyclone...At almost 7 feet tall he probably has hands the size of a tennis racket in width and yet he uses one of the most narrow shaft made.

Extra long, extra stiff ultralight painted like a cyclone.

^^^ Bingo.

No way a nhl player would be using a cyclone.

A cyclone is essentially no different than an ultralight in performance and a lot of guys like smaller shaft shapes.

i think mattias norstrom does, someone from the kings at least

His is the same deal. Every NHL-used Cyclone I've ever seen is a 120 UL painted as a Cyclone. From Duchesne to Hulse, it's always a UL.

I thought that the ultralites had a better/tighter carbon weave?

A friend of mine has a Samsonov shaft from his rookie year{97-98}.While it has the cyclone graphics,it doesn't have the cyclone's dimensions. So they have been doing tricks with graphics on sticks as far back a 1997...maybe more

I believe the cyclone didn't have Kevlar while the ultralight did. I have no idea now as I haven't used an Easton shaft since the Synth came out.

Interesting note: Zdeno Chara was using a Warrior stick during last night's game vs. Montreal... Looked like the AK 27 shaft, but may have been something else.

There are some cyclones with kevelar available, a kid on my team has one. The cyclone was one hell of a shaft for me, 2 of them last me over a year and a half.

But i just can't see the point in going to all that effort to make a higher end stick (ultra lite) look like something less!

I know a bunch of guys that used Cyclones and loved them. The shaft was always too small for me but evidently they're better sticks than I thought. ;)

Why? In order to move more Cyclones.
