They don't have the right for either, it's not like it's a picture of tyson raping a girl, it's tyson boxing.

I understand what you mean but Emery wasn't told to get rid of it, he volunteed to do that himself. I do think it's a bit weird getting annoyed about a pic of Tyson though. Like you said, it's not like it's a picture of him raping anyone. I thought it looked like a pretty cool design.

You're right, it isn't a picture of Tyson raping someone, however, most people associate Tyson with rape, hence it isn't a message the Senators want to be sending.

Most people associate Tyson with rape? You're certain about that, cause I don't.

If I see a picture of Tyson wearing shorts and gloves, I think of a boxer. If I see a picture of Tyson in handcuffs, I think of a rapist.

When I see a pic of McSorley first thing I think of is the Brashear incident. Bertuzzi, the Moore incident. Lindros and the problems, not the PPG player. Tyson, a dirtbag criminal. Pete Rose, scandle.

Most people think of the negative or big story before anything else

Ok Mr Sunshine, way to look at the bright side. :P

I don't really see what the big deal is. The team talked to him about his mask, he agreed to change it. Not sure why TSN needed an article on it.

I don't really associate Tyson with rape unless he's in cuffs with a couple of cops walking either side of him. I think of him more as a boxer with a bad attitude. I can see why some people didn't like Emery's helmet but i do think it's taking it a bit far saying that he shouldn't be allowed to wear it.

he should be allowed to put whatever he wants on his helmet

Why? I can't just wear whatever I want to work. This is no different than a company enforcing a dress code.

I'm not from canada, so I can't say, but maybe canadians aren't big boxing fans, or don't know a lot about tyson, so really only know about the rapist thing.

Whatever, you'd think he'd put somehting related to the team on his mask... but whatever.

Canadians, in general, know him for alot more than just the rapel, infact I'd say that was a bigger deal in the US than here. Most see him as the biting guy, tatoo face, or possibly the Jimmy Kimmel Monster Mash. I had forgotten about the rape (how bad does that sound), until it was mentioned here, and I think he's the type of guy where you remember his latest idiotic moment, because it's too hard to remember them all.

No...it's his old mask...but it does have a boxer on it. The plan is/was when he re-does the mask, he would put a fmaous boxer on it, because he isa huge boxing fan.

I don't who it is on the old mask...but that isn't the Tyson mask (at least according to Sportscentre).

I also never knew that he had raped anyone. Unless you're a pessimist, I think that its kinda hard to look at a picture like that and think of the negative. Nobody is perfect, especially so when they are in the spotlight. True he is scum, but he was also a hell of a boxer. I totally agree with what was being said about the form of the image; its one of him in his prime and that is what the point of the helmet was.

Also, playing hockey is as much a job to them as it is for us to go to work and school. Both of the latter have every right to enforce a dress code for you to adhere to when you are there. Outside it is your right to do whatever you want, but when you are representing an organization, they have the right to not have you putting out bad image in their name. It is exactly the same with hockey. Besides from what the article said, no one forced or even asked him to change the paint. They simply stated their opinions of it, and he chose to remove it out of respect for the management. Don't blow something little like this so far out of proportion and just hink about it a little bit.
