New Reebok gloves

Recommended Posts

Just watched the Wings at Avs game on TV, and I spotted a new model of Reebok gloves. Robert Lang was using a pair of Reeboks that looked like the Koho's he's been using this season. Wonder if this is a new model that Reebok will release or if they just replaced the Koho logo for Lang? I haven't found any pics yet of the actual gloves, the pic below shows the Koho ones, but there will probably be pics of the new Reeboks soon enough.

how are they allowed to to that with easton gloves?

They aren't really Easton gloves, though they look just like them.

Those sure look like Easton 9500's, with the velcro on the cuffs and the unwieldy extra-wide fingers. I think they just slapped a Reebok logo on there. The 9500 has been out of production for the general public for years - maybe Easton doesn't care.

I repeat, they are not Easton gloves. There was a multi-page topic on this earlier in the season.

If those aren't Easton gloves, who made them, and why did they make them to look like Eastons?

But anyway, what is the point of putting a logo of a different glove on another glove (such as Reebok logos on Koho gloves)? Isn't part of the idea of a logo to "advertise" to the general public?

I can kind of understand the thinking behind repainting a wooden stick so it looks like a more expensive OPS (like Naslund's Nike sticks), but I just don't get why they even bother putting Reebok logos on Koho (or other brand) gloves, unless they plan on selling them as such in the future. It's not like people can run to their LHS and ask "Hey, I'd like to buy a pair of those new Reebok gloves that Robert Lang uses", but they COULD ask for the Koho gloves if any LHS still has those.

I've even actually seen some Swedish guy in the World Championships in the 80's or 90's wearing a CCM helmet with Jofa labels on it... To me it's like seeing a Mercedes Benz driving around with BMW logos, or a can of Pepsi with Coke logos, it just doesn't make sense. Who are they trying to fool? It's just bizarre! :P

Most people never look past the logo.

Here's finally a pic of those gloves Robert Lang uses. I wonder if this model would be popular if they were sold retail, or if the regular Reebok model would outsell these?

All I can think of is how I've never seen anyone wear the Koho gloves those RBKs are made off of so I can't imagin the RBK vector logo making a bit of difference.

I don't know if i'm understanding your quote correctly, but at the retail level all the RBK gloves were Jofa models, I don't think they retailed a glove that was modeled after any Koho's

Does Lang switch twigs often like some players? Wasn't he a Bush/Graf twig user?

He was using the Bush sticks for the first few weeks of the season, but since then he has been using Warrior.

The glove that Lang has there, with the Rbk log, are Kohos.

Yeah, he's done that for the past few Olympic/WC competitions.
