What do you like nearby your rinks?

Timmy Ho's has a really high franchise fee from what I've heard.

It's something ridiculous like $250 000, and that's free and clear, it can't be a bank loan or anything like that. Apparently you make your money back in like 3 years or something though

How about a Chipotle, Jimmy. You can get into a new business -- they're cash cows! :D

Chilpolte! This is New England man, even Taco Bells can't make money here. :P If it aint Dunkin Donuts or Chowda, you prob won't make it.

I was thinking a bar/restaurant, but family style.

There is a chain of restaurants here in Colorado called Panino's that I was referencing before. On the side by the main door, it's a nice family feel with tables and all, and on the other side of the restaurant is the sportsbar area. The food there is pretty good as pizza is hard to really screw up if you know what you are doing. Something like that sounds like it would fit the bill for you.

Franchises usually won't cost you quite that much, but can cost hundreds of thousands in addition to wanting the franchisee to have a personal wealth of at least 1mil. I worked with a guy who was looking into acquiring a few McDonalds stores, and it would've ran him 50 per shop, plus money to pay for existing inventory as well as having personal wealth totalling at least 1mil. But franchises can be worse than just starting your own business straight up because of the royalties and all of the guidelines they require you to follow.

Subway's on the other hand cost $25,000.00 including base product. Krispy Kreme is the most expensive franchise period.

Well, I figure after Y2K everybody moves up a century. For the rest of the country it's the 21st Century, while in New England it's now the 20th Century.

So I think it could work. :P

Actually, I noticed there are five Q-Doba's around Boston now. They both started in Denver, and it sure seems like Q-Doba was started by some renegade chefs who thought they could tweak the recipe slightly. It will be interesting to see how they do, because you are right that New England thinks of Taco Bell as Mexican food,

After games I always go to the gas station and then to the bar to meet up with other players, even though I usually don't drink after games. Bars must have food service, burgers & fries or great pizza.

I don't know if they have them where you are, but what about a "Play It Again sports" shop instead of just a pro shop?

At least have a nice convinience store with a long high table and chairs (high stools) near the window. They have that set up in some 7-11's now so you can sit down and enjoy the food you have just bought.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Did you just say 'food' and '7-11' in the same sentence? :o

There is a hospital across the street at the rink here.. can always come in handy :P

I'd go for a McDonald's, we don't have anything else here in the area so wouldn't know how other fastfood tastes :P

There was a krispy kreme near where I used to live and it was insanly busy when it first opened, like people lining up for 2 hours to get donuts. About the hype wore off, like 6 months later, people reverted back to timmies and KK closed down

Nobody mentioned Hooter's, massage parlors or beer stores. Guys, where are your priorities? :D

Or strip clubs?

Come on! I know I'm not the only one thinking about tits!!

Good things to have around a rink in NH are a convenience store for beer/ice/gatorade type stuff, 99/Chili's type restaurant for food and drink after games, and Dunkins or something along those lines for the coffee crowd. You'll already have the proshop taken care of so I didn't include that.

Side question; when do they expect to open those rinks? I hope they take better care of them than they did in Salem.

In between games at most of the adult tournaments I've played at we end up grabbing some food and then going to a strip club. So a good strip club with something like a Subway nearby is always nice when you're going to be around the arena most of the day.

Strip clubs are a given, but should never be mentioned in public out of fear that our wives/girlfriend may stumble upon our secret.
