sherwood21 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 It'd be best to really get fitted for clubs at a decent store. That'll help because you can determine everything you need to know to find which clubs best suit you.If that isn't an option though..You sound pretty casual about golf so probably an older years Ping, maybe a G2, i3+, something with a wide sole. Cally Big Bertha's are pretty forgiving irons. Mizuno makes nice irons as well. Stuff like Jazz, lower-end Wilson, Ram, etc are also good makers of mid-range irons. I'd stray away from Titleist clubs in general, they're the best IMO if you are a player but otherwise I wouldn't start out on them. Buut, you really should get fitted... My dad got a set of Titleist DCI off ebay for $200 shipped to Canada, and believe me, they are awesome! Ebay is defiantly a place to look, but you may want to head into a local golf shop first to see clubs if you go the Ebay route.

Miike 1 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Then you may want to look at some of the higher end clubs, Callaway Big Bertha's are very nice. Im sure you can find a set of 05's or 04's for a good price.

Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 I am a casual golfer, so I don't really need brand names, I did buy clones though, from http://www.pinemeadowgolf.com/I got a set of the callaway x-16 clones, and a clone of the taylor made monza putter, along with a 60 degree wedge and a clone of the nike driver.Whole set cost me about $300, including shipping. They custom build them, so I had my wedge made 1 inch longer, and had a stiff shaft put in the driver. Great customer service and products still going strong 2 years later.May not be your cup of tea, but for the casual golfer, or buget golfer, they come highly recommended by me.Look at them like the "famous brand" generic hockey sticks you get
Chadd 916 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 I use some "old" Armour Evo forged irons that work pretty well for me. Personally I would find a local guy to custom-fit you for clones. The right length and flex makes all the difference in the world.

Eazy_b97 1 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 what advantage would a custom fitted club have? I am contemplating new irons, and been browsing around Ebay for some older, decent clubs (Cobra Oversized, Wilson Fat Shaft mostly)

I am contemplating new irons, and been browsing around Ebay for some older, decent clubs (Cobra Oversized, Wilson Fat Shaft mostly) A good tech can help you find the right flex, lie and length. Those things matter even more on a golf club than they do on a hckey stick.
teamriot38 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Does a custom golf club fly further when I curse and huck my stick 30 yards? Does anyone know of any sites that sell golf clubs that use paypal. (a "hockeygiant for golf" if you will)Personally I stick with Tiger Woods 06 for the ol' XBOX, but I migh be in the market for new clubs now that it's getting warmer.
