I don't see whats wrong with AO. It's basically the same as all that crap, a nickname based on his real name or number. Hell half the people already call him Alexandre the great.

I couldn't come up with anything creative so I decided not to put in an entry. Funny thing is "Alexandre the Great", "008" (not agent though) and the 8th wonder came across my mind as well, but I thought they were too unoriginal.

When i was watching HockeyCentral today, they said he's decided to go with "Alexander the GR8"

He had some choice words to go along with it, he's pretty hard to understand.....he said something about scoring 50 goals in his rookie season

I don't see how they could pick that considering any half decent player whos played in the NHL named Alex or Alexander has had that nickname and even though its shown GR8 its still pronounced the same as 'great'

Obviously they are calling it "Alexander the Gr8" because he wears number 8. At the end of the day it's more of a moniker than a nickname, just something for play-by-play to use now and again. I don't think for one second that the guys in th eroom will use it, well only to take the piss anyway..

I'm almost positive that Alexander the GR8 was what the marketing people at CCM had in mind anyway and hundreds of people sumbittted that, it's just not very creative. That's what we were calling him at work, months ago. I like AO, which is also not very creative. Currently the best nickname for a player is for Vesa Toskala, "The Finnish Horse" B)
