Bauer One90 Feedback

Recommended Posts

Guest JK47

I am currently looking into new hockey skates and was considering between the XXX's and One90's (when they come out). I asked a player I know who wore XXX's for the first few months of this hockey season and switched to One90's when Bauer offered them to him. He said the One90 is a significantly better skate than the XXX's. Not only is it lighter (no brainer) but he said it has an overall better skate and balance than the XXX's do. The bottom line is that he recommended the One90's to me with no reservations, saying that they're the best skate he's ever skated in.

Just thought I'd pass along this bit of info since experience with the One90's seems to be very scarce...

I like it. The ones I skated in were a little too shallow for my feet and I needed to make blade adjustments but the boot has a lot of potential.

I ordered a custom pair and they should be coming soon.

Its a good skate, The ONE90 fit my foot good and its is a sweet skate, When I did skate on them though the profile was not what I was used to so I took them off afetr about 10 min.

As for the one90 being lighter than the Vapor XXX, that may be. My size 7D Vapor XXX's weight in at 750 grams each ( I was bored and curious). This is exactly what Nike/Bauer states for the weight of the new one90. I don't exactly know what size they are quoting...I would have to assume it's one of their smaller pairs, if not the smallest. So, as for the one90 being lighter than the XXX, it's possible, but probably by only a few unnoticeable grams.

I'm pretty sure they measure the weight with size 8 skates.

Also, XXXs have perfed steel, while the one90 has solid steel..

You can make a skate lighter for sure. Durability usally suffers though. It's a trade off, just like OPS, if you want lightweight, be prepared for durability issues. Until some new construction material is invented or imported from Mars, your basically dealing with what construction materials are out there.

you make a good point. but the XXX are so light, it's almost impossible making a skate even lighter. what's the point of having an even lighter skate than the XXX. it's getting ridiculous

The One90 is about fit. They have taken a crossover approach from carbon speed skate boots into hockey boots. The lighter weight is a result of the materials being used to build the boot. I think this boot was about fit before it was about lightweight.

? How can we review a product that so few of us have seen, let alone used? Could we at least wait until the One90 hits the market? The second hand info from a friend of a friend who used them in a practice is a bit silly to base any judgement on a product, IMO.

Just curious as to how those of you who have gotten an opportunity to skate with the One90s have gotten your hands on the skate?

I arranged a skate in Michigan in December and NBH arranged for us to get ONE90s to skate in.

MSH Squadron Game

Pics

The pair that I skated in was not as deep as the 8090.

PHHockey and Warrior37 both were at the event.

I just got an email - my ONE90s have shipped out.

If they imitated the KOR's carbon speed skate technology, the fit should be awesome. As with any skate, we will have to wait till the masses reviews it, because anecdotal reviews really mean nothing.
