Yeah, pretty good friend of mine too. He got cut my the Capitals for the midgets this year though, but good player IMO. Just needs a bit more heart and disre, but good player. I played half a season with him last year. I was on the B team and he was on A, coach pulled so I played with him..

So heres the Update....

Travel has been booked and I will be arriving in NY Dec 6th and leaving Dec 28th. I will be looking to try on a few pairs of skates but will most likely be hoping to get a pair of Bauer XXX, XX or One90. Depending on costs and fit of course. I will also be looking to get these skates baked (where applicable) at the shop, if I want to bake skates here its gonna cost big bucks!

So heres the question where is the BEST place to go in terms of largest range and expertise? Obviously I might have to sacrifice range over expertise but I maybe able to return to the shop during my stay if they need to order something in etc.

Also if these stores have a website I could view that would help allot. I havn't got accomodation sorted yet, but will be in Brookyn between 6th-->11th Dec staying with a mate if that helps.

at the ice house we have the XXX's fullystocked and will have one90's since we are a First Line dealer and we bake skates free of charge if you buy them from us

the XX's are disctoninued and by that time probably no one will have them in stock

and we have our experts at the shop eg: DarkStar50

the website is icehousenj.com

My travel plans keep changing, now it seems I will be passing thro New York.

Looking this thread the skate shop at the icehouse looks well recommended, is this still the case for getting a pair of skates properly fitted from a good range?

Also what are the travel options from JFK please?

Thanks

If you're asking about how to get from the airport into Manhattan:

cab: $45-50 flat rate + $10 tip

bus service to Grand Central: $15

subway: $2 + $5 for AirTrain (the rail connects the airport with the Metro system)

Airtrain/Metro was handy when coming in, but when leaving with a suitcase loaded with crap I think cab fare was fine. Haggled the guy down a bit too.

PS: Thanks for the invite anyways JR, Im still in debt from the last US trip. lol
