NBH ONE90's holder story. SWEET PICS inside!

Recommended Posts

to make a long story short, i work in a hockey shop. we were expected to receive three pairs of the new ONE90's. We were expecting a pair of 6.5's to roll in but only 8.5, 9 and 9 ee came in. a very loyal customer was in a tight spot because he wanted the skates bad. and wanted to buy them through a local shop (plus to get them at a 11+1 as well as new holders) anyway, him and his father got them off of hockeygiant.com with two day air.

they came in today and we got the skates heat molded, as well as prepped for the holders to be taken off. i myself am a converted lacrosse player and am very, VERY well known for my stringing and dying of lacrosse sticks and have won national contests. also have played NCAA ball for the past two years. anyway, the kid asked if i could help him out, of course for knowing him for a while i said yeah. he wanted to take the new white LS2 holders he was going to have put on and have them dyed (lacrosse style). i jumped on this right away. i have dyed holders before, solid colors (green, yellow). but never did a style or pattern like i always do. anyway i got home and he wanted exactly this...

NEW PICS! more to follow (lot's of requests)

and to how they came out...!

yeah, i will show the skate when it's installed tomorrow at our shop. i never knew that the glue would stick ( i was told not to do it, but its basically the same thing as a lacrosse head ). so now, i have like 9 sets of holders to dye for people in our area. especially mine are going to be tossed into the mix as well...

Is that a glue gun job? I used to do my sticks up like that all the time. I personally would have went with a blue to match the one90 logo on the skate w/ white streaks. Also, they are gonna chip like mad.

Damn, maybe you should contact Ovechkin and offer him up some Capital colored holders ;)

Looks really cool, great job.

yup, basic glue job. i have done many more detailed ones. he wanted black/white...i tried to get him to do blue. he actually plays on the same high school team that i played on (two years ago, 04' alum). we have a huge rival with a team in our conference (blue) so he would be shot...or cut...haha if he had blue holders.

they will get cut up and chipped...just will add to how the holder already looks. honestly they look sick. this is a special plastic that wont affect performance. i have talked to every company rep, as well as the guy who is in charge of warrior lacrosse (who does the plastic molds), you can dye and it doesn't effect performance.

Nice work, those Lacrosse heads look amazing. You should think of offering this as a customizing service and open a small buisiness for yourself.

How much are you charging to do this for people? (the skate holders that is)

Not that it doesnt look very nice but what are the effects to the plastics on breakdown of the Zytel? Also why would he want to switch the Power holders off if they are stronger could you not Die them?

And he does realize there is now zero warranty on holders and runners right?

honestly, you could very possibly open an internet buisness and sell dyed holders.

buy the holders ppl want and charge them for the holders + a dying job.

Nice shmockey. Too bad that the black lax dye fades out and becomes a purple-ish color.

I didnt think of using that dye on my holders, but i've done tons of heads for my team when i played. I'd get more business than the local lax shop for dying.

here is my breakdown...

initial set up charge- $10

+1 color- $5

+glue splatter- $5

+ darker color charge- $5

______________

$25 for that job

+shipping

if you wanted to get a russia fade like alex ovechkin in the olympics...

initial set up charge- $10

+1 color (white)- $0

+1 color (red)- $5

+1 color (blue)- $5

+labor charges- $5

+ darker color charge- $5

______________

$30 for that job

+shipping

-------------------------------------

basically there is a 10 dollar set up charge, then each color is 5 bucks after that. this is based on most colors, but brown, black, forest green and red all need darker dye...so there is a (darker color) fee as well. glue is extra and gives a splatter effect, you can do stickers all over (like i have in my webshots) or fades which look hot.

i'm open for business ...if anyone is interested

true, but my dyes are very concentrated and come out very black. the one picture looks like there is a purple spot on the head. that was the camera because these are jet black

hockeysh, I'm thinking about dying my holders for my 'pond hockey' skates and you may get my business. Trying to decide on color scheme sort of thing. If you have any ideas they're Cobra's with Supreme 7000s. Im putting the Custom + on my Grafs...

I don't know about the pink. I don't wear pink shirts or any pink clothing, but I've seen some pink on black uniforms, a la Telecom now T-Mobile cycling, that look sweet. I usually don't go for pink, but just because it's usually frowned upon doesn't mean you won't like it.

That said, I think some Texas burnt orange holders would look sweet, probably on Grafs moreso than on the 7000s.
