kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 Do you guys find that you have a better slapper with a long stick or is all mental?
Langenbrunner15 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 I thought I did, but then my coach cut my stick so it's the ''appropiate'' length and it didn't make a difference. The only thing that made the difference was when I got the new blade in my stealth and since it's stiff, it's a harder shot.
repus 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 Its mostly mental. Too short of a stick will have an impact, but technique will give you the best bang for your buck :)-dave

Actually a slightly softer blade will add more whip to your shot, making it faster.
Langenbrunner15 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 Well, with my stealth, I could bend the blade with my hands...and was almost a year old...my blade was going to hell.
Edge 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 Yeah I'd say a slightly longer stick would give you a harder shot from what I notice. My stick goes up to about the bottom of my nose on skates and I'd say I have a pretty hard shot. My old SL was to my chin and my shot wasn't as hard.
mnitishin 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 i dont like having a long stick, it is too flexible. for me, the stiffer a stick is, the harder my shot is, probably because of the whip i can get out of the stick.

dieselbro 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2006 I dont really think that its the length that affects how hard the shot will be, its more dependant on if you can shoot with a longer/shorter stick without having to change technique too much and I guess most people have trouble changing technique which is why power and/or accuracy suffermore mental, IMO ;)
thejackal 46 Report post Posted June 26, 2006 My slappers suck with a lie that's too low, so a longer stick does help.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted June 26, 2006 Stick length makes no difference. If you have good form you can shoot with any length of stick.
stock07 1 Report post Posted June 26, 2006 Stick length makes no difference. If you have good form you can shoot with any length of stick. Thats the truest answer yet....Stick length is all PP and what you can work with best, but it you have the proper form on your shot length dosent really matter to a point.... nyr4life 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2006 you cant go by just stick length.....because your gonna notice a difference between a sr stick with an 85 flex as to a senior stick with a 100 flex
dieselbro 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2006 I think we all assumed that this person was talking about sticks of the same flex, but with different lengths.. but then I do know that length affects flex etc. etc., but unless you add more then 6" it shouldn't make too much of a difference
