Langenbrunner15 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 Also, is it a covered motor or non-covered. If it's not covered, get one of your buddies to take a look at it, if it's covered, than off to the shop..
kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 Does reverse still work? Yes reverse still works Panther. WHat does that mean? What do you mean by covered?
Langenbrunner15 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 In some cars, they cover the engine so you don't see it. Like in my mom's car, it has a plastic thing over it so you can only see the indends of where the things are, but you can't see the actual motor.http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/imag...=8,897&ei=UTF-

#28 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2006 If the belt is broken the power steering and a/c won't work. When the engine was running did you notice that it became a lot harder to turn the steering wheel? Also as domileafs28 said, the car will still move with a broken belt. The trans. is probably the problem.

The trans. is probably the problem. they are rack and pinion arent they? Power steering hydraulicly assists the steering rack, which is why you can steer the car at low speeds with one hand.Pull the transmission dipstick and look at the colour and smell the fluid. If it looks blackened at all or smells burnt it means it's the clutches in the tranny slipping for sure.
