RBK 8K vs. Mision Intake

Recommended Posts

Im going to be in need of a new helmet soon, so i was thinking of getting either the new mission intake or an 8K.

So I'm lookin for a comparison between these two, pros and cos of each and stuff like that. and also which you think looks better ( i know looks arent very important, but still!)

Im coming from an itech helmet at the moment so im guessing the Intake will fit similar?

I haven't seen the Intake in person yet. I own a RBK 8K, I haven't used it yet but it is a very nice helmet, seems just as protective as any other. Fits well and is very comfortable.

If you decide on getting one I have it in the sell forum.

The Intake fits very similar to Itech. (worn medium Itech's for the last 4 years still take a Medium in the Intake)

Nah, im not overly bothered with the price, being as im in england, everythings Expensive!

what features does one helmet over the other? ive tried my friends RBK on and it seems pretty sweet, but havent had the chance to get my hands on an intake to see that.

i was in a hurry for a new helmet(I had 1 days to change it) and they only had 8k and 8000 i was so confortable with the 8000 that i didn't even try the 8k.Yeah well i put it on but take it off almost at the same. the padding wasn't nice enough for me lolll

go with an intake i have one and it's the best helmet i have ever had. the 8k's crack easy and you dont wont to spend 135 bucks on a helmet thats going to break in like 3 months. but the 8k is extreamly light and looks good. i would try both on if they sell them at your LHS. if they dont sell thm at your LHS buy the intake on the web and if you dont like it send it back and get a 8k.

ive got both the 8k and the intake and im slowly prefering the intake over the 8k just because I find my head feels cooler after a game and during a game where the 8k i feel abit more of my head getting hot and everything. Protection from results ive seen from Mission since there factory in quebec does all the testing the rbk 8k and intake are the 2 most protective ones where the 8000 actually placed very low for overall protection

Partial Hi-jack .... how does the 8k and mission compare to the carbster? I really like the carb , but it's starting to show it's use ....

Thanks in advance,

John

actually, in 10 years of playing hockey, playing with 40$ helmet before my new 8000(i just got it) And anything happened to my head. I don't think a helmet is really better than another in terms of protection. they all protect.it come down to weight, confort and ventilation for me.

I hate the way the Intake fits, I own an 8k. For my head there are so many pressure points in the Intake, and it feels too bulky. The 8k is awesome. I dont even use their tightening dial in back because it fits my head so well. Very comfortable and the lightest helmet out there. Oh, and as you asked, the 8k looks WAY better! ;)

i jstu bought an intake and i have tryed on 8k and 6k. i first tryed one at the sport shop i work at and then i tryed an intake and it felt great just as good as the 6k the 8k i find a bit lighter but it would also make my wallet lighter so i went with the intake also the fact it was only 90 bucks american.

i think your right, my point was, if it is on the market and have a big name on it(ccm, bauer, mission etc..) it can't be BAD, it was still approved by these rules, if they don't,these helmet wouldn't be on the market.

The difference is if you want something that just passed the certification or something that far surpassed the certification.

Do you think an NHL equipment manager would put Intake helmets on players if it barely passed? Just another case of "rep bs" getting passed along as fact. Think these things through from reps, get out the bs filter, then throw it back in his face and see what the rep says. Not picking on you, Edge, just heard so much bs from reps over the years that I can call them on it very quickly.

I wore a CCM HT 2 (pro model forever) until 2 weeks ago when my feet came out from under me and I rocked the back of my head on the ice. I scrambled a few eggs in the noggin, for sure. The helmet met "certification" but for protection in this case offered little. I bought an Intake last week and like it a lot. I tried on 8K and 8500. 8K didn't fit right and 8500 fit great but was too heavy. Intake fit perfectly and I am satisfied with protection level on ice.

Which helmet far surpassed the certification?

I have to do a product knowledge session with several reps next month. I went to one of our stores and mentioned it and the girl who worked there was like "That's great, because it's always better to hear it from the rep, it would be more informative than reading the catalogue." I laughed and she was like "Why are you laughing?"

I used to be relentless back in the day...and that used to piss off some reps...especially when they come in to show you one product and you already have next year's product in picture or actual form to show them..I've mellowed over the years...
