JULY 1st free agent signing

no doubt... I've never seen a kid put the puck on a defencemans stick just to hit him and take it back. he's a beast.

but brashear will keep other teams honest. It's just a matter of time before sticks start finding there way to AO's ankles and wrists. the Caps are garbage and certainly can't afford to have him in the box or in the stands.

Just so people don't mix him up with the Flyers Johnsson, there's no "h" in Kenny's name...

Anyways, if he goes to another team besides the Islanders, I'll be furious. The Islanders did not give him any bit of a hard time when he said he wanted to go back to Sweden(this was the year before the lockout), and out of respect he should at least come back for one year. He's one of the most underated players in the league, and may just be one of the top 5 defensive-defenseman the last year he played

Petrovicky to the Pens. Good pickup, they need more guys like him. Works hard, hits and has more skill than most people think.

Red Wings sign Danny Markov. I was really hoping Montreal would sign him as they could use some depth on D and thought he might be more open to playing there since his brother is already on the team, but I guess that's not going to happen this year.

The eagle has landed in florida...much like many soon-to-be retirees

On a more serious note, I've got to wonder who would be the all time wins leader for goalies if Belfour and Roy swapped teams. Eddy is 'only' 100 wins behind Roy, and for the most part Roy was on much better teams, besides of course the 2 season where the stars were the team to beat. I think Roy would still have it, but it would be a lot closer

From what I understand, and I could be wrong, a team has 48hrs to sign players after the teams final arbitration case. So buffalo has a while to decide on briere since they have lots of cases still upcoming. This is so that teams know what all the arbritration deals will be and then can weigh them against each other.

I'm not sure how long has if they sign a player before the final arbitration case. An example is the Islanders, who signed Asham on monday and then 24hrs (almost exactly) later they accepted the York deal.

That makes sense. They shouldn't be forced to commit to one player's salary before knowing the outcomes of their other players.

Looks like the sabres learned their lesson really quick lol Just signed Kotalik to a 3yr, $7 million dollar deal. Good job locking him up for a few years when he'll be worth even more each year.

EDIT: lol and even better, two seconds after I posted that I see they signed Pominville too

Yannick Tremblay to the Canucks

isn't that just speculation at this moment? I know the 'Nucks are interested in him but nothing has been finalized yet, that I know of ;)

I don't even know why they are interested in another D-man anyways, that is unless they have stopped shopping for a top line winger (assuming Bulis fits in with the Sedins) because cap room is pretty tight

EDIT - I stand corrected, Tremblay to the 'Nucks <_<

"Buffalo has one more player scheduled for arbitration, fourth-line forward Adam Mair, who made $450,000 last season. Mair's hearing is scheduled Friday."
"The team is also awaiting an arbitration award after forward J.P. Dumont had his hearing on Monday. Buffalo has also yet to re-sign two key restricted free agents, starting goaltender Ryan Miller, who's is coming off a 30-win season, and defenceman Dmitri Kalinin."

So Miller didn't file for arbitration then? Seems weird that he wouldn't, unless he and his agent think enough of the Sabres organization to believe a reasonable contract could be signed.

I thought rookies weren't allowed to file for arbitration? I could be wrong, but I think you need like 3 years or a certain number of games to file.
