Which Ice Hockey pant to choose?

Recommended Posts

I play inline hockey right now and i am going into high school hoping to play for my HS ice hockey team. I have been searching around and have looked at a few products. I am just wondering which ice hockey pant is probably best to choose?

I like the Mission M-1 pants, very protective and comfy as well. The new TPS pants are nice as well with some cool features. I would avoid the CCMs as I've had bad experiences with the latest models.

Honestly I don't think the 9000 are worth the money. We have 2400s in the shop and we added zippers and I think it's a much better pant - at half the price.

The 5000 pro is still Tackla's pimp daddy pant.

I'd try to switch to get a bauer or tackla girdle. Just switched from my supra 420s and I'm kicking myself for not trying it earlier. THe mobility and protection you get is amazing.

I would never suggest any Tackla product. I had a pair of Tackla 5000s and the bottom stitching all along the leg came apart and all the padding fell out. Not my idea of a quality pant. I have a pair of Itech 8000s that I picked up for free from a local team, and I really like them.

I just got some old Bauer Vapor 6's from Perani's. So far they are really nice and comfy and you can move really well in them. I tried on CCM 652's or whatever, and didn't like those at all...too baggy.

I actually tried on a pair of the Easton Synergy pants recently. While they WAY overpriced ($139), they were very sweet pants. Super protective and mobile, but also very slim fitting and not bulky. I was really impressed...

I like my M-1s though, for the money probably the best pant out there. The only issue I have with them is they nick and tear alot... seems like every shot I block I have a tear to prove it...

If you are just switching to Ice from Roller I would suggest as lightweight as you can find. You might not be used to the bulkiness/weight/or sheer amount of equipment you wear in ice vs. roller. From our own lineup I would recommend either the Ultra Lite or Air pants.

I'm a big fan of girdles. I've been wearing them for at least 8 yrs.

Yeah, but what's the reason for the bustiers? :P

The 6k is a nice pant...however if you want something really lightweight, look at the TPS 104 or 204. It's as close a fit to a girdle you can get - and it's very light.

And keep it up, DD...

I have some pants from a company called prizm form canada. There are very light and protective pants. They also have leg zippers which i like very much.

I bought and then sold a pair of Nike Quest 1 pants. Didn't like them at all. I felt like I was wearing a barrel aroung me. I think that is what they mean by "European fit". I went back to my Bauer Supreme 5000. Lightweight and great protection. They are getting pretty smelly though ;) . I'm thinking about going to the Tackla line, that is what I used back in highschool. They were really nice too!!

What are the biggest difference between the Tackla 9000 air and the Tackla 5000 pro?
