protein shake recipes

Ok im getting very sick of just drinking plain chocolate protein shakes. Is there anything i could mix with it or maybe make some type of smoothie to change things up a bit?

chocolate protein powder, milk,vanilla/chocolate ice cream,peanut butter and bananas is what I usually have. I think its good, but some of friends thought it was gross.

8 oz. skim milk

1 tbsp. peanut butter

1 large scoop vanilla whey protein powder

1 banana

1 handful of frozer strawberries

Makes a pretty big glass. I usually have it for breakfast and stay full until lunch or snack time.

I've tried this and it is good, whbd18. I've had to add sugar (Splenda preferred) to get rid of the unpleasant taste of banana when mixed into a smoothie.

My breakfast is currently:

1-1/2 scoops of Optimum Rocky Road

half glass of skim milk

half glass of water

1 cup of instant plain oatmeal

My dinners are:

1 scoop of Optimum Rocky Road

full glass of skim milk

1 banana

2 sachets of Splenda for added sweetness

mine somewhat has been said before but I'll tell you one of mine just for the hell of it..

16 oz of fat free milk

2 scoops of chocolate whey protein powder

3 spoonfulls of peanut butter

ice usually enough to fill an 8oz cup

1 banana

this is enough for at least 2 glasses of shake so it should keep you filled for awhile

Whats with all the penut butter recipies?

Does it add serious flavour or is it for its nutritional contents?

Peanuts are a good source of protein.

Mix it all in a blender, pretty tasty

slimfast shake

banana

peanut butter

good meal replacement

i just started taking protein shakes today.. my question is do they actually make a difference? if so, how many do you need to consume a day?

i have a pretty active lifestyle and am hoping to bulk up as i'm pretty skinny right now.

Our trainer for our hockey team (trained indianapolis colts works with alot of pro athletes etc) confirmed to us that you can never have enough protein (in the teenage age group at least) Ive usually been a fairly skinny kid, but once I started lifting alot and eating alotttt of protein and such I gained about 15 pds in about 3 months. Heres what my diet usually looked like

Breakfast- 3 eggs, toast, banana, Orange juice, 4 beef liver pills

Lunch- 3 peanut butter sandwhiches with chips, some sort of fruit, 4 beef liver pills

Dinner- Usually either ALOT of chicken mixed with rice and peas, or steak. Always meat and vegetables in there and 4 beef liver pills

40 min workout-protein shake

I worked out about every two days to give my body enough time to heal.

I usually drank about 156 oz of water every day (3 of those 711 mugs)

I also cut pop (soda) completely out of my diet and replaced it with water, I might have a soda every 3-4 weeks or so.

The beef liver pills are excellent source of protein and are not steroids or anything, all natural, doctor approved. I took 12 a day (come in cups of 500)

There are alot of sites that can help you gain weight

if i were to bulk up, do i have to cut stuff like soda completely?

Yes, they make a difference.

As stated in a post above, you want to consume your bodyweight but in grams of protein (note that a matchbox size of lean beef is only 7 grams of protein).

I take 4-5 scoops a day to make up 170 grams. Please note that your body doesn't absorb all the protein you eat and drink. My metabolism is slow so I opt to drink protein shakes as opposed to eating frequent meals during the day (although I really bulked up by doing this before).

I may be wrong, but the fatty stuff like soda and chips (AND BEER) are dependent on how fast your metabolism is. I have friends that drink like fish yet are cut-up underneath their shirts. I, on the other hand, have a retardedly slow metabolism so I have to cut down (hopefully cut out) the fat so rip up a little. I have some bulk, but it's mostly fat with some mass.

I usually just mix with milk when it's chocolate protein powder. I can't do this with strawberry or else I gag, so I add nesquik strawberry syrup and it tastes alot better.

Another quick option is to mix 1 scoop chocolate whey protein, 12 oz. skim milk, and a chocolate malt carnation instant breakfast. The instant breakfast adds a ton of vitamins and nutrients and makes it taste much better.

Think of it like this. I have a pretty fast mnetabolism. At school if I get hammered saturday night, lounge around sunday hungover, and practice monday, i look like stone hands, and so does the rest of the team, that's why mondays are hard as hell

Soda has lots of sugar so it puts on fat

question: what type of protein and how many grams per serving does it say on the package. Also to make a shake, does it say 1 or 2 scoops. It's possible ot have too much protein and for it to be useless

Yah, your body can't absorb more than 40-50g at a time. My protein is 22g per scoop, so I take 2 scoops per shake 3 times a day.

twinlab ultra fuel + vanilla leanbody.

orange ultrafuel for a creamsicle, blue raspberry for cotton candy.

50ish g/protein, over 100 carbs.

sorry to hear that, Every kid that I know thats tried it so far hasnt had a problem with it....Got the recipe off of BodyBuilding.com I thought it was fine.
