Sprung Hockey

Recommended Posts

I just got the new model Sprung chassis mounted on a size 7 1300c boot. I had a lot of issues getting this chassis mounted. I initially wanted to put them on a pair of size 7 Graf 709 SE's, but the outsole of the boot was not big enough for the chassis. Also, the chassis did not fit the overall shape either. I went to my ice skates, the 1300c. I brought them to my LHS, and they mounted the frames, but with extreme difficulty. The shape of the boot and size of the outsole was a minor problem but not as bad as the Grafs. However, this problem was solved but mounting the frames approximately a centimetre forward and adding "shims" to the heel. I skated around the house on them, and since the frame is a bit forward, it kinda feels like skating on the Hum'er chassis. The skates are noticeably lighter than my previous set-up. I will give a more indepth review once I use them in a game or two.

My previous skate was Code 1's on old model sprungs size 7 (sprungs mounted properly) with 76a RR Hot shots (front and back wheel) and 80a Labeda Hammer (in the middle).

New setup: Easton 1300c on new model sprungs size (mounted approx cm forward) with 78a RR Hornets (front back) and 84a RR World Cup (middle).

Initial setup was too grippy, thus the harder wheels in the new setup.

p.s. I let my gf choose the color to dye my chassis. Her favourite color is green. Rit Dye works very easily and wonderfully.

However, I was wondering what kind of issues might I deal with, being that the frames are more forward than normal?

i like the green frames but black or white laces mite look better(my opinion).i dont think the lift in the back should be to much of an issue, alittle more bend in the knees or just getting used to it,should be fine dont think about it to much. i do like the skates..

I skated around the house on them,

Wow, you're allowed to do that? My mom would kill me.

Im pretty sure he owns the house :)

My parents were working, so I was able to mess around  .

As for the green chassis, I knew there's going to be mixed reviews about it. Initially, I didn't like it, but it's starting to grow on me.

Wow, takes a while to load up in China!!

And here I am in ShenZhen China at my factory with my best bud Engineer Cheng.

We're going over the final stuff on the large drawings which are looking way good. Also the final fluff on the medium for full production starting next week.

We finally got the impact test results on the new frames and they are just what we were hoping for. This is a hockey puck canon that can accurately shoot specific spots on an ice or roller hockey frame. We had one small crack on one test victum at 90 mph that didn't increase any more at 100 mph. The rest of the frames (and all the rocker arms) showed no damage whatsoever at 100 mph. The shots were primarily aimed at the rocker arms as they are the soft spot. So our soft spot is now like a brick wall.

I know from mounting a pair of Grafs before I left, that Grafs have tiny little out soles. Even the larger sizes are very tight on the heel mount area. They're definitely smaller than any boot I've ever mounted. There's a picture of them back a few pages.

I'll be back in the USA Friday for a day or so and then I'll be in Vegas (the moon) for the hockey show. With the product moving forward very nicely and the impact test results under our belt, we're expecting to have a Good Time.

I probably won't be answering any PMs till I'm back, cause the re-load is soooooo slooooow.

As for that green, I did that color on the rocker arms for a pair of Mission Fuels to match the yellow green accents on the boots. The color is better if you control all the colors around it. And it is a good base for camo.

It's almost quitting time here, and I think I'll have some Chinese food for dinner. And Kingway beer is among the best in the world and it's like 30 cents for a Big Bottle!!!! Glug, Glug, Glug.

I was kidding about the pink guys. But with the army green and talk about camo it may be wanted by someone since I still see people using those pink mission sticks.

wow. So i started reading page 1 over 2hours ago and just finished reading every post in this thread. And had to resist pulling out my credit card several times.

There were a couple questions I wanted clarification on. What skates got the best recommendations for a 9.5 skate size? I am debating between the Vector 10SE, 9k, and Vapor XXX. Anyother skates that had a good sole and took the transfer well?

What spacers did most people use because I found some debate between the different users?

Can you spray paint the chassis with a plastic specific spray paint?

Sprungster do you actually mount the skates yourself for that fee? If so is it possible to mail you skates, purchase the chassis then have the whole thing mailed?

I am so intrigued and upset I just bought a pair of PF10s because had I found this MB and thread sooner I would have gone Sprungster frames and an ice hockey boot.

After reading a great deal of this thread I decided I get some of these and slap them onto the He7500's I have that have a newly cracked frame.

If I like them maybe I'll put them on my new wicked 1's.. or just sell the wicked 1's on e-bay.

My buddy and I both have 1300c, mine was a smaller size, but his (size 9) had a fairly wide outsole which made for an easy transfer.

I'm using floating spacers. These are the only spacers that work.

I wouldn't recommend spray painting as it might chip and just look bad. Rit dye works very well though. It's cheap and really easy to use.

On another note, I just tried out the new model A6 sprungs. My initial impression: WOW! It might be the new harder wheels, but I definitely felt like I was skating faster. It just may be my perception though. Turns were nice and sharp, better than the previous sprungs. Acceleration was a bit better with these frames, but still not as good as hi-lo setup from an MG chassis. This was only an initial impression so it shouldn't be interrupted as an overall review of it. However, I really like the new model, and there was definitely a noticable difference.

Any particular brand that works? I dont have that much money to keep trying to find the right one. Thanks!

Sonic or Tour/Bevo seem to work fine. Somethimes they can be a pain to find at a LHS, but they are all over online. If you have a LHS that carries the Sonic tools or other products, they could probably order you some. Usually 8-10 dollars

any break in tips for skates as old (yet new) as mine? convection baking didn't seem to do a lot. i have blood blisters on two sides of my left ankle/foot & one on my right. i've only used them 3 times. but they don't heal in time for the next use & keep getting worse :(

maybe punch out the problem areas, wear thin high quality Oxysox or Ultimax socks, and make sure that you keep re-tying your laces since the boots and laces are new and more prone to stretch a little and possibly cause rubbing. maybe try a layer of gauze or something wrapped around the problem areas as well for more protection so your feet can heal up more.

New Skin, hurts like hell but once you get a good coating you'll be fine. Wearing a thin sports/skate sock also helps a ton.

you dont really need an ice boot for the sprung frame.you want a boot that feels comfortable.my one son has the sprungs on the mission He9500s and my other son has the new a6 frame on ccm pf 6s they were both inline boots and the sprung set up makes them a better skate.
