Hey guys,

I'm going to dye my sprungs when I get them on Friday. Just wondered if anyone has ever mixed 2 colors of dye together to make another color. I'm not trying to do anything fancy, just thought maybe I could do a dark charcoal grey or something. Anyone try this???

That's a good question....whatever you do, make sure you test the color on a different piece of plastic first!

I bet a white plastic spoon/fork/knife would work well....

I like the plastic spoon idea. I will definitely try that first to see. I figure the worst case scenario if I don't like the color on the chassis I will just re-dye them black. Black looks pretty sick on the sprung chassis anyway so it's a win win.

RitDye has a color chart for mixing their dyes together.

According to USPS tracking, your frames were delivered at 9:44 this morning. Have you talked to your left hand today?

OUCH.....if she hid them those are reasonable grounds for some serious negotiations for evening back rubs for the rest of your days. ;)

Hey guys,

Awesome color chart. Thanks so much for the link!

Again, my one and only valuable tip:

To get black black black, use this recipe:

Two packages of black, and one packet of the darkest brown you can get, all in the amount of water the directions specify for one packet of dye.

This will get you the truest black possible, with almost no chance of ending up with dark purple plastic.

What's really funny is that our main mailroom girl is a really cute chick ;)

Keith, I got the frames.

Is it better to use liquid or powder dye?

I've always had good results with the powder. The only thing with the powder.....have the water boiling BEFORE you put the dye in there. After that.....you should be good to go.

That's what Keith is doing for me....he charges for it, but I have no problem paying for it and knowing it will be done right :)

Okay, well I got my frames yesterday in the mail, and I already had the dye so I thought I would get started. Now the dye custom color chart on the Ritt website looked great, it told you exactly how much to use and what colors to use to mix for your custom color.

I was looking to do a charcoal grey. Now I have to believe that these custom colors must be ment for fabric only. After following the directions perfectly, I noticed that instead of a nice dark grey color I ended up with a purple frame.

So after all this I decided it was good that I had purchased an extra 2 boxes of black dye and 1 box of dark brown dye. I then re-dyed my chassis and now they are a nice jet black color. Very nice. I was hoping for a dark grey, but I always new that worst case scenario was to re-dye them black, and I really like the look of the black frames, so it was a win win for me. Seeing as how you all have seen the black frame before, I'll wait to post the pictures until I get them mounted up.

Keith,

I wear a size 11 Mission, and I've put a large A8 onto it, which I have raved about in past posts. The place I play is a smaller surface, with tight checking and a lot of stop and go. I find with the longer wheel base, I don't feel as nimble in the tight corners as I did with the shorter wheelbase of the stock chassis. Is an 11 boot too large to put a medium chassis on? If I can round out that element of my game, life would be perfect.

11 Mission is the crossover size so yes the A6 will work on it, and both the A8 and A6 have their big fans. They will be more nimble than your stock skates. Your stock skates would no longer seem nimble at all, now, without some serious getting used to... and then they will not be as nimble as your Sprungs.

The A7 is coming back into the main drive again and it will completely remove the big A6-A8 crossover. Notice we finally came up with a name for it!!!

Keith,

What exactly is the A7. I too personally like the smaller wheel base and I have a size 10 boot. Is the A7 the medium frame with the all 80 setup.

A7? Is that the Medium sized chassis that uses 80mm wheels?

Amazing, but true! Not only is A7 much easier to say than "The New Medium Chassis With All 80's", it just happens to fall between A6 and A8, giving the reassurance that it is the size between the two. Joe came up with it the other day in a fit of creativity, and it's a good thing cause I sure as hell wasn't coming up with it. Smart like Sprung and sounds right... "Gimme a Sprung A7 to go.":rolleyes:

Argh....and I just dyed my A8's today and now read this....now I kinda wish I would have waited. Keith, what are the benefits on the shorter wheelbase on the A7's as opposed to the A8's?
