Sprung Hockey

Aussie joe.. had the same issues too until I threw on some spacers. They spin like no tomorrow now

Spot on Fatty! I just slapped in my spacer set from the old skool LaBeda Da Bombs I used to use 8 years ago and they spin like your favourite CD!

Now all I have to do is figure out how the rest of this freak'n country can get on this most excellent band wagon Im on. These frames are it as far as Im concerned. :D

Not only you mate... not only you.

I've been riding on the sprungs since Nov, turned a few heads during the games and pickups. A lot of people I've play with/against have asked about it. No doubt that I am not the best spokesperson for the product... Its difficult to change the attitude of people who just like off the shelf stuff.

Australia is a big place. There's usually an Australian pair in each bunch I ship out. The points just don't touch yet. I am experienced in one man hockey.

Yesterday I played many manned hockey in these nice new size 10 skates with all 80's. The boot is stiff and a perfect fit. Two hours in them, out of the box, without a pink spot. Wet feet and socks, no pain at all anywhere on my feet. I think this is Luck, actually.

The pitch of the boot and frame is just right and I was faster with less fatigue from sprinting. Less fatigue overall with the longer wheelbase and suspension. I am also faster on the large frame with all 76's. It's the wheelbase to boot length ratio. And the suspension is the trick.

I felt really stupid when I realized I was walking sideways back in forth in front of the net. Like a goalie! No balance problems at all beyond my normal headoverheels style. :)

Sprungster, when will the new all 80mm sprungs be available to purchase

Looks like we're on for early September. Probably on the site first. They'll be $125 because of the added material and shipping. The medium will remain at $119.

I've started developmental testing for a goalie frame based somewhat on my Fiziks aggressive frame. The idea is to have a skate you can easily move around in that will slide when you split. Suspension, grip and slippery stuff.

Thanks for your quick response to my question. Yeah I do understand that the hard turning radius is only the back 2 wheels, but I find most of the turning is the back 3 wheels. The reason for my question was because I want to try the larger A80 frame (with all 80mm set-up) on my skates but I wear a size 8.5 easton/9 Mission skate. Do you think there will be any problems with using the larger frame to accomodate the larger wheels on a slightly smaller boot than designed? Thanks

The mount plates are too wide apart and the heel plate is too wide for a 10 Mission. They won't fit on my Type Ms either.

I'll post pictures of my size 10 Vapors tomorrow. They're about the same as a 9.5 CCM. The plates are too long for them but it worked out OK.

How much smaller are the mount plates on the meduim against the large frame? Is it possible to see the comparison, please sprungster? So if the mount plates are to wide for a smaller boot is it possible trim or dremmel the mount plate to accomdate the smaller base of the boot? Thanks

Look out! It's Quote Pileup!!

I will take pictures today. They will be what you want to see, which is the comparison of the large and medium...and the new large A80 on the 10.5 Mission Type M's.

I just got a pair of brand new 9.5 M's that use the same sole plate as the 10.5. They look almost the same till you put your foot in. I don't know about a 10, though. What these all look like to me is the medium frame on size 8 boots. As I get used to them they look more balanced.

As for room to mount, like you suggested, I used the two front mount holes in back and drilled through two existing holes from the inside for the back two on both boots. Worked fine. Except where I drilled a little dip into the rear fender. I guess that can happen when you're drilling blind from inside the boot.

It's important that worst-case-scenario testing be done, too.

Last night the pro that probably counts the most to me, and (interested company), started skating on the new large frame. He's always liked the frames, but he wears a 10.5 and he's an all 80 addict, rightly so. The frames that come on his size are usually inside the sole front and rear and the medium Sprungs are too short for too. The large looks perfect on the boots and, like the medium, is the only recognizable frame on the rink. He stopped to look at them a few times. A good sign.

I liked the glazed look in his eyes last night when he said he wanted to hang on to them. I'll check with him tomorrow night.

Just had these mounted up last week, so much better than the OneUp chassis, lighter and corners with the extra stiffness (coming from 1500's) are nice and extra tight. I didn't realise until after how much difference the stiffer boot and faster wheel setup makes to my game. Spacers now allow my wheels to spin freely, enabling me to chase down guys super quick. Twice I blocked the same cherry picker in Thr's game from cruising over the blue line one on 0.

Aussie Joe, I can look at them and feel them. YUM.

Here's stuff in a row. If you look at the beautiful old model worker bees of Aussie Joe's, and then the new model A6 medium on some brand new 9.5 TM's. And the same M's compared to the Medium HILo that would go on them. I think this is the same frame that comes on Mission 10.5's with the Large A8, like shown by themselves and with the A6.

Now, imagine a frame that used the 80mm rockers in back and the 76mm rockers in front, and the two center wheels were real close like the medium. And it was as low as it could possibly be and still have full movement.

That sounds like a perfect set-up! Sounds even better than an all 80 set-up I want on my boot.

Sprungster, would it be possible to get a picture of both frames side by side, looking down at the frames, please?

Judging by the record, this should be possible.

yea, just contact sprungster, and he can fix that for you.

Btw, it does help to use the search function, and being lazy to read thru the 88 pages is not something to brag about.

THE SPRUNG MODULAR MANIFESTO

Has a nice ring to it doesn't it? Here's how it works.

We make an all 76mm frame that works just like we want it to. We are happy with the configuration, which is how all the parts fit together in a ratio that produces the performance we want. There are little things we want to fix, but not until we have something better.

We make an all 80mm frame that works just like we want it to. We are delighted with the configuration because it's a version of the 76mm one, and produces the performance we want. And the 80mm rocker arms fit into the A76 frame and the 76mm rocker arms fit into the A80 frame.

And the things we learn from making the A80 we retro fit to the A76, like the new *pitch.

And because we have two rocker arm sizes that work and two frames that work, and everything works the same, we can make the Combo1. If it sounds like a lunch special, it is. You get some from A6 and some from A8 and some from the 3D machine. It will work perfectly, right out of the molds, just like the A80. The A6 wheelbase is 9 5/8" the C1 will be 10" and the A80 is 10 17/32".

So, next we need to make an all 72mm frame and a 72/76 C2 for the smalls. And an all 68mm, which sets up a 68/72 C3.

Having the wheel setup optional and having a pitch that is consistent will make it easier to find what you like in performance and feel, along with the best wheelbase to boot-length ratio. And the same hardware for all. Modular!!! ;)

*There is a Sprungster Custom Shop Post coming on how to easily modify the front and rear mount plates to lower the boot and adjust the pitch. It's done on the 9.5 Type M's shown below.

9.5TMM.jpg

Also one on how to tighten up the suspension after heavy use over time.
