A Good Movie to Rent

Recommended Posts

Breakin' was bad.  Turbo and Ozone LOL...

You can't tell me that Turbo freestyling with that broom wasn't one of the sickest things you've ever seen.

What about Breakin' 2 Electric Boogaloo? Haven't seen that one yet.

I meant bad as in good LOL...

Heh, was already at the theater today and saw the new Harry Potter movie. In my opinion it is the best so far. It has some very good plot and some good dark humor. I like the new director. I also saw Day After Tomorrow last Saturday. Was entertaining but that is about it. Alot of it was way to far fetched, but the acting for the most part was quite good.

So in other words, I want to rent a movie, doesn't have to be a new release. :)

about that dark humour, the director had some dark humour too. turns out, before he was asked to direct HP, he was directing a mexican film with lots of sex..

I dont want to make a new thread because I thought this topic could fit here. I watched texas chainsaw masacre and it said it was based on a true story and stuff. I did some searching and some sites say that the movie is based on a guy who made masks out of skin from corpses he dug up, but it doesnt say anything about murder. Also, if anyone saw the movie they show actual footage of leatherface attacking a cop. is that actual footage? or just um... fake actual footage?

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is not a true story. That stuff is just bull to add dramatic effect. Did you watch the original or the "hollywood" remake?

The original was more or less based on Ed Gein, some crazy butcher or some crap in Wisconsin. You're going to hear people, especially those claiming to be from Texas, say "oh well I know a guy whose brother's cellmate knows a guy..." say it's actually fact.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, especially the newer one, was based off numerous high profile murderers. Ed Gein, Manson Family, Dahmer (newer one at least), etc. You'll find that most horror movies are bases loosely off something that has happened in the past.

as for movies to rent, we just rented Love Actually after the gf had been bothering me about it for weeks. To be quite honest, for a chick flick, it wasnt half that bad. If you can handle sitting in front of the TV for a long time and havent seen it yet, Id also highly recommend the Band of Brothers set.

The guy off the silence of the lambs was based off of Ed Gein also. If you look this guys up he did some crazy crap.

Some movies that I don't think were mentioned and are some of my favorites: Fallen, Stir of Echoes, Zero Effect, or some comedies like Me, Myself & Irene, Super Troopers, and Kingpin. IMO, all good for a rent, depending on what kind of mood you're in.

Movies are my thing. I have over 500 movies on tape that I got off of cable and PPV as well as a number of DVD's.

There were a lot of great movies already mentioned here, but I'll add a few that I think are some of the best that I've seen:

Sci-Fi/Horror-

The Alien Series (The first one is always the best)

The Predator Series

(Alien vs Predator movie coming out in August)

The Hellraiser Series (Feel free to skip the third one)

The Phantasm Series

Pitch Black (Just saw the Riddick movie last night. Pretty awesome!)

The Cell

13 Ghosts

Escape From NY (Escape from LA was weak)

From Dusk to Dawn

Dark City

Roller Ball (the original with James Caan)

Misc.- (Some great movies that didn't always get a lot of Pub, plus others)

The Big Labowski

Boiler Room

The Truman Story

Signs

Being John Malkovich

Detroit Rock City

The Last Seduction

Awakenings

Spy Game

Get Shorty

I'll add more as I think of them. Anyone see any of the above movies, let me know what you thought of them.

Picked some out for a plane ride and found out that Timeline and Along Came Polly blow. Elephant is all right and the first Simpsons season for $20 is one of the better purchases I've ever made.
