MLB Wild-Card

Recommended Posts

With the end of the MLB season approaching, the Wild-Card race has been crazy, especially in the NL. The Phillies, after getting rid of Abreu, Lidle, and Bell, are surging, and they're only a half game out of the lead (who woulda thought that would happen?!). Which team do you think will win each Wild-Card?

I think I would have to go with the Phillies, just for the fact that their upcoming schedule is pretty weak, with the exception of Florida, and maybe Houston.

And in the AL, Minnesota has been great lately, I think I'll go with them

Howard for MVP!!!!

But with Big Papi being hospitalized, and out indefinitely, he was the only other real choice. Who else would win it?

He may not even play for the rest of the season, and the Red Sox definitely aren't making the playoffs this year, so he may be passed up.

The MVP rating in the NL should go:

Pujols

Cabrera

Beltran

Utley

Howard

I love Howard as much as any other Phillies fan, but he's 5th on the list.

Edit: Forgot Cabrera.

Ortiz isn't even the best DH this year, he's not the clear anything.

If Ortiz is done, it's down to Jeter and Dye.

Is it just me or does anyone else see Mo Vaughn (minus 20lbs) every time Ortiz steps up to the plate?

Morneau has had a great season, but its down to Jeter and Ortiz in the AL, and Pujols/Beltran/Howard in the NL. Who makes the playoffs will probably be the deciding factor, so I vote for Jeter and Pujols/Beltran. NL depend on if Beltran ends on a tear or in a slump (he really only is one or the other at any given time).

And for the Wildcards themselves, I say White Sox or Tigers, and NL is just way to sucky/crazy/close to call

NL Wild Card: Phillies

AL Wild Card: As a Tiger fan I would hope the Twins or Red Sox, but I think the White Sox will.

NL MVP: Ryan Howard

AL MVP: Derek Jeter

Damn Kovy, you're in the South and should know that Andruw Jones has a helluva lot better shot at breaking anything like that. He won't come close, but still.

He plays in a park the size of my living room. Put any of the old timers in that park and the record is closer to 1000 career HR

I think you mean Aaron's record, it's not Bonds' yet. And in order to pass 755 he'd have to hit 50 for nearly the next 14 years, until he's 41, and without steroids I think that will be quite difficult.
