Best 1-2 center combo in the NHL

Recommended Posts

Definitely Thornton + Marleau. Who knows if Malkin will even play center, there are a lot of rumors floating around they'll put him on Crosby's wing.

Savard-Bergeron-Boyes isn't bad either.

Crosby/Malkin

Yeah, all those points Malkin put up last year in the NHL really puts those two at the top of this list....

hey wait a minute...

edit: I agree with Staal/Brind'amour and almost said it myself. Just not sure if Staal is playing center.

Richards/Lecavalier

Briere/Drury

Staal/Brind'Amour

Crosby/Malkin

Thornton/Marleau

Okay, you get a noob pass for saying Crosby/Malkin. Barely.

I'd say Lecavalier/Richards a couple seasons ago when St.Louis was racking up the points, but I'll give it to Thornton/Marleau for points, Staal/Brind'Amour if I want a better all around 1-2 punch.

Hows Thornton/Marleau on face-offs? I only really saw them during the playoffs and can't remember.

I'd go with Thornton and Marleau too. I disagree with the Richards/Lecavalier tandem though. Vinny has yet to produce like the superstar everyone said he'd be and seems like he'll never do either. I think he's overrated.

Really? I haven't heard a peep about that from any source here in Pittsburgh. The only rumor has been maybe Staal going to wing.

That's swell, except Boyes hasn't played too much center since he rode shotgun with Bergeron in Providence during the lockout and then found that same chemistry after the Thornton deal in Boston.

Isn't Zhamnov still on the roster? The guy is a great playmaker and better than average defensively. That's a decent 1-2-3 and I still think Crosby will be better on the wing.

Who has better speed, Malkin or Crosby? I'm pretty sure it's Malkin, but not sure. Point is, I think the faster should be at the wing so they can make a break for it if they get the chance.

^^ it's 1-2 centers only.

If it was any 1-2 at any position I'd go with Ovechkin and anybody else.

Oh I see, my bad.

Zetterberg/Datsyuk still works. Although Zets played some wing last season, he was best when he was moved to center, and more then likely he will be Center from now on. Unless Detroit's wingers prove to brutal and they have to move him to wing.
