LkptTiger 1 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 This is bound to end well. Should I just lock it now?...I was just curious. I was hoping (against hope) that the boys would be mature enough to handle something like this. Apparently, Kosy is a bit more realistic about this kinda thing. kosydar 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 I'm not faulting you at all here, and I'm probably just showing the cynical asshole side of me. It just seems like every attempt we've had to discuss anything political turns into a complete mess. Then again some of the biggest instigators are currently not active members, so heres to hoping this one turns out better than the rest.

Chadd 916 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 Democracy isn't a two party system...... wait f*ck me I guess it is here in the states... Because of the above I am listed as nothing and have really no motivation to vote... let the ripping begin Voting is important, especially if you dislike the Republicans and Democrats. Vote for third party candidates. I'm a very strong believer in supporting the smaller parties if you don't like the major party candidates. Without people "wasting" their votes on independants, communist or green part candidates, those parties will never get a place in the national spotlight. Fixing the system should be your motivation. Tricky4L 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 I totally agree but the task itself of trying to support a 3rd party into the mainstream is quite daunting. I am not saying that I do not vote but rather making the point that more often then not it seems useless in the elite political system we seem to be apart of. awall 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 I like the response of Religious Right.I guess I consider myself a Conservative Republican. Here lately I'm not seeing much difference between the two parties. I admit I was excited when Bush won his first term and the Republicans had control of both House and Senate, but when I started seeing all the stuff they were putting through and all the various "pork" I was quite indignant. I was hoping that Congress was gonna cut spending and spend more responsibly, boy was I disappointed. What really got my goat was after 9/11 and all those spending bills, how many of them were actually for security and defence? Now when it comes to elections I try to look closer at the individual candidate rather than political party. Chances are I will vote Republican before I vote democrat on the grounds that I feel the Republican party actually actually understands National Security means we take care of our own rather than rely on the Usless Nations. I believe no country should have to go to any foreign group with hat in hand and ask "Please Sir, can I defend myself?".I could go on and on here, but I want to try to keep to topic and keep things civil. Politics and Religion are loads of fun to discuss, but people get offended all to quickly and quit thinking even quicker.

hockeymom 2 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 Well, in Canada if you are right of Atila the Hun that would make you the equivilent of an American democrat...just kidding.I'm a bit of a political junkie... have worked on virtually every election campaign since before I was old enough to vote. And have worked on or voted for all of the main political parties in Canada at some point. Admittedly, sometimes I cringed while casting my vote. What can I say... its been a changing landscape. Maybe part of your problem is that you view the government solely as Bush. Even though he is the president, there are many other important members and institutions that have as much, if not more power than he has.
Tricky4L 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2006 In theory yes there are members and sections of the government that are more powerfull, but sadly within the last two terms the whole concept of checks and balances within power has gone the same way as the national surplus
