I wouldn't say choked as much as they got beat by mega great pitching.

I would take the Yankee's line up over the Tigers pitching any day. The Tigers just had 2 days of near perfect pitching. Nothing to hang your head about, they just ran into a buzzsaw.

You mean almost like that old saying that good pitching beats good hitting? That A-Rod is as worthless as Bonds in the post-season.

Aw come on, at least we got there.

But yeah, this one stings because I live here. Everyone and their momma has been calling me talking shit. The same fans who jumped off the bandwagon after they lost the division.

Great pitching by the Tiger indeed. Alex must always run into great pitching in the post season as he is always a "victim" of it.

I don't know when people are going to realize that simply amassing great players doesn't make a good team. Just as the Canadian National Hockey team.

Oh I know. I've never been a huge baseball fan, but these fair weather fans are horrible. I think the A's will be more of a challenge then the Yankees were.

Yea you got there but with your payroll that is not good enough.

Fair weather fan? Uhhhh no. Chadd said it best when he said its almost as good when the Yankees lose as it is when the Sox win. Yankee fan has been talking trash for so long that its nice to see it go the other way.

Oh yea ... BTW your team is still on record for the biggest choke of all time :)

Love to hate the Yanks.

I think you're looking at it from the wrong perspective. There's no doubt the Yankees had a great lineup, but I said back at the trading deadline that they were short on pitching.

This series proved that. Wang had a Quality Start (defined as three runs in six innings) and Mussina was close. However, Johnson and Wright had bad starts, while Lidle was poor in his relief effort. However, winning pitchers in the playoffs generally are much better than Quality Starts, as both Rogers and Bonderman demonstrated.

Ponty, you'll love this, but do you think that somewhere in New York City a six-year-old boy is mournfully asking his father, "Dad, will the Yankees ever win a World Series in my lifetime?".....

Plenty of Sox fair weather fans for sure. I am not one of them as you know. :)

Seriously ... looking forward at hating / loving you guys again next year.

You also haven't won anything in the new millenium, either. Firing Torre isn't going to help, especially when they keep Cashman.

It's ok, at least we didn't end up 3rd in the division(of 5 teams btw). *shrug*

I am confident if we "invest" another 100m under baseballs said salary cap we can be in the playoffs and out after one round.

The Yankees have set the course for this.

Geesh. Other than JR and a couple other NY fans you guys are quite. Typical. Your team loses and you hide. Hell I was here to defend the Sox win or lose.

You guys had the World Series in your pocket a month ago. What happened?

Are you kidding me?

Given their salaries and fanatacism of both of their followers, anything less than a championship is a major disappointment. Third place, first place, first round loss, it doesn't matter. It's a huge letdown for either of these teams to not win the World Series, but obviously a bigger letdown for the Yankees, given how much they went for it with the Abreu/Lidle trade.

The funny thing is there is another group that is even more miserable than Yankee fans right now. And that's Fox and ESPN, because not only did they just lose Yankee viewers for the playoffs, but they lost Sox fans as well..... :D

I've been disappointed for years, and nothing is going to change until Cashman is gone and the Boss smartens up and runs the organization like it should be run.

Look at teams like the Twins... That's how a team should be run and I'm jealous that we can not only run a team like that but be able to afford more superstars in addition to a group of above average young talent.

Instead of that we have guys that are in adult diapers and taking guys out of their elements just to fit them into a lineup. We didn't pick up the relief pitching we should have to relieve the beyond aging starting pitching we have... it's been bad for years, it's just much more apparent for people now. I've been a depressed fan for years, since I realized what Cashman and George have done to the Yankees...

With that being said... at least we didn't end up in third place :P

P.S. I will never hide that I'm a Yankees fan, a Bucs fan, or a Lightning fan... In college football I'm a UM Hurricanes and a USF(I go there) fan, and as of they're existance I've been a Devil Rays fan.
