Stolen sticks.

Recommended Posts

Got to vent briefly, Had all my sticks stolen at York U. Icesports last night. Turned my back for a second and some low life snagged them. My fault for letting them out of my sight, but I still believe hockey players are the class of the sports world (at least 99.9% of us)

Gone

Stealth CNT Grip

Mission Pulse Grip (a gift for my brother)

Synergy SL Grip

Watch your equipment people.

Which Division/Team u play for?

at any rink these days, if you have anything valuable, it could possibly get stolen. i would recommend a stick bag that you can carry around, or just carry around your sticks and dont let them leave your sight!

and, i would also reccomend for anyone, to allways bring your bag in with you at tournaments. i know someone who was at a roller tourney and someone broke into their car and stold ther breifcase and some equipment!

also, one time at a local tournament, a team stole another teams sticks out of their locker room/dressing area!!! this was back when the original synergys were just getting out! it was kind of obvious to find who took them, since not everyone had an ops back then!

Thieves are targeting the arena parking lots. It is quite common for people to leave valuables locked in their car while they go off to play hockey. But thieves also know the "flow" and pattern of the parking lot, especially at 1 or 2 pad arenas. There's that "break" when the parking lot is pretty empty of people - when the players on-ice before you have gone and you're already in the arena.

And that's when thieves do a quick smash and grab.

Know a parent who happened to go out in the parking lot and caught a guy in the act of breaking into her car. She did the exact wrong thing by chasing him across the neighboring park... where a jogger tackled him and held him until the cops came.

We have 2 big problems around here..

1) Kids who like to snoop around. I have walked into our locker room more than once and found some little piss in there. Our house league team knows better than to keep anything of value in the locker room, but people will steal anything. We started locking the door for the first time 2 seasons ago when our shoes started going missing. EDIT: in fact, last week I went up to the rafters to watch a highschool practice and I left my bag by the front desk. I went back down to find some kid flexing my sticks...

2) Guys who "accidentally" walk in the assigned girls locker room. It got to be such a problem that they started posting big pink signs on the door saying that its a girls locker room. When that didn't solve the problem, we had to resort to locking the doors and having peepholes installed. A few people were even arrested for it happening a few too many times. My wife got walked in on last week at her hockey class (where they dont give the key to lock the door because of the constant in and out traffic).

Wow, I guess this has kinda opened my eyes up to how careless I can be with my gear, especially my sticks. Usually, since our rink is right on school campus theres noone in there besides my team during practices, so its not a big deal to leave stuff lying around during practice, but even at home and away games I always just put my sticks wherever the stick rack is, be it inside the room our outside in the hallway like some rinks have it set up, and those places someone could take them so easy cause the racks are always right inside the door if they're inside the room, or outside the door would obviously make it really easy.

I'd be flippin shit if someone even touched my stuff to move it, let alone was flexing my sticks.

At one of the rinks I play at, there've been several rashes of burgularies over the last couple of years. Last summer, we played for the championship and won. We went to the bar to celebrate (with our complimetary league championship skate bags) only to find that nobody had any cash. Turns out the thieves went into the unlocked, unused dressing room next to ours, and then climbed into the rafters and OVER the bathroom joining to the two rooms. Now I use that skate bag to bring all my valuables with me onto the bench.

I also never let my sticks out of my sight. Once after a pickup session, one of the players got undressed quickly and left. As he left, he grabbed a couple of sticks off the wall where everyone had left them after the skate. Being paranoid, I was watching and saw that one of the sticks he was taking was mine (a Synergy). I called him out and he said, oops grabbed the wrong one. He then grabbed his (a crappy woody). Wrong one, my @#$$$.

How sad is that, that guys have to "accidentally" walk in, just to get their jollies!? :(

Reminds me when I was young (about 10 or 12). My parents were seperated and my mom didn't have much money, my hockey subscription was payed by an organisation that gives the opportunity to kids who can't afford to play sports to do so. For a christmas present my mom had bought me (with the help of my brother who is 6 years older than me) a brand new Easton Aluminium. Anyway, I was waiting for my mom to finish work after my practice, I was hanging outside the arena and I had went to the bathroom for about a minute or so. When I came back my stick was gone, there were 3 guys who were outside the arena and they were also pushing me around because I was a bit fater than the normal kid, so I knew they had took it but I had no proof, even if I would have went to the Zamboni guy he probably woudn't have cared. I only had the chance to use it once.

I was thinking the same thing.

Someone stole a bunch of wallets and stuff during pickup at one of my local rinks. It would piss me off sooo bad if someone stole something of mine. I have to work to buy what I have as do many of you... Whomever stole this stuff is scum.

I had a chance at the Lightning locker room during training camp, you didn't see me go in and steal anything from them... and they get their gear for FREE. Stealing from anyone is NOT cool.

Sorry about your stuff! Hope they catch the guy.

I can sympathize with this poster. I work at a rink and usually leave my hockey stuff in the office when I'm doing something. I left the office the other day during a tournament and some dick came in and stole my brand new phone. I suppose it was a blessing since that was the easiest replaced thing I had, this guy could have stolen a brand new CNT, XXXlite, 1500 skates, or custom MIA gloves. I was always believed that hockey players are the most honest people, but I guess not.

My bauer 5000 gloves and pro stock synergy were stolen. But then my dad almost killed me because those stuffs were not even used yet! (I bought those right before the game starts)
