Stolen sticks.

Recommended Posts

The worst is dishonest teammates.

I got my gloves stolen during my prep tryouts two years ago and had to borrow one of the coaches gloves for the next two skates. Of course, this was the year after they stopped making the Bauer 5000's so it wasn't like I could get a new pair.

Playing JV the season before a visiting team stole ALL our backup sticks off of our bench, and our managers let it happen when the kids said they were "helping us with our sticks" holy crap, I can't believe they would just do thier job.

I got my skateguards stolen off the bench at the beginning of the season from a kid gettting sent down to our team but wasn't in our locker room yet. Last sunday the kid left them lying around during our game in our new locker room, and he had such a hard time with me harassing him about it. "Are those my skate guards?" "Are you sure? I had a pair JUST LIKE those and I lost them!" "Get Pissed!" then after the game gave him the same deal. A couple other teammates heard it and saw me get them back after he left, and he caught hell on monday at practice, the least of his problems being getting his bonnet knocked off when he tried to hit a kid. Ha.

I don't see how people can lack so much honor as to steal things like this. I guess I just don't get it.

When I was working at Rochester, the last kid who showed up to drop-in stole everyone's money, and since I was the first guy off the ice, he told the guy on the bench to watch out for me. He tailed me, and I got showered and got out and was in my shop when I hear this big commotion. The minute the kid saw me he started to run and got in his car and took off. Fortunately the rink staff knew who he was and he got nailed.

Another story - when Atlanta had their training camp at RDV in 98 a guy in a suit walked into the locker room while the Thrashers were on the ice. Security thought he was an injured player, and he was almost home free til they figured out what happened. My best friend tailed him and tackled him in the parking lot.

No big deal story

One of my teammates stole my mouth guard case! the last half of season, I only lost the mouth guard case. But then at the end of the season, I saw him putting his mouth guard in it! How did I know it was mine? Simple, I put my name so small, and I realized it easily since I put BauerNike sticker on it (I know it's stupid).

EDT: then, I throw it away except the sticker. Weird kid. Why would he want a "mouth guard case" which someone already used it?

A couple years ago at NESC in Marlboro, MA , My friends bag, sticks and jerseys were stolen. Brand New $150 all together team jerseys we got a month before, a Brand New vector V110 and a Z-Bubble/Z-Carbon, New Eagle Gloves too. I went there a couple more times with my AAA team that summer and always checked to see if the equipment ever showed up. Then this summer my HS team played in a Tournament there and every single kids money was stolen out of there wallets, most of them had a couple hundred dollars too. Luckily I wasnt there since I just got my cast off my wrist.

Id rather be chewing on a used re-boiled mouthguard then have my package be rubbing up against where some other dudes package was.

Infact Ive had to use one of my teammates extra used mouthguards before, I just rinsed it off real good and stuck it in a cup of boiling hot water that I got from the concession stand.

Well, 1) I had no money on me and 2) My local rink doesnt have a Pro Shop seeing as its in my High School's Athletic Complex.

Our team got jacked once...I got lucky that my coat had a bad zipper and my wallet was in that pocket. Guess the guy didn't have enough time to get the zipper freed up. But after that incident and couple others all the rinks have had safes installed in every locker room so we can lock the stuff and take the key to the bench. The locker rooms are lockable, but stupid firecodes don't allow the backdoor to be really locked as you can get in thru the connecting bathroom, just glad the managment was smart and put in the safes.

I don't think there is anybody lower than a teamate thief. I have been lucky and have never had anything stolen, but I know of a lot of people who have. Our Oldtimer's League supplies each team with a 'Wallet Bag'...a small helmet bag that the team puts all of their valuables in and it goes out with the goalie and is put on the top of the net next to the water bottle. As far as my bag and sticks, I take them out to the car after I shower, then go back in for the 'Wobbly Pop'. I feel for those of you who have been ripped off, and I only hope that someday you get a chance to meet and deal with the scumbag who took it.

Last season my buddies wallet got stolen, we found out who it was and needless to say he handed it over after he saw my pipe I carry in my car. Never seen him since and now the locker rooms remain locked during games.

Closest thing to this that I've seen happen was when my friend's special edition Nextel got ganked while playing pickup at an outdoor rink. He was pissed about that for months. We think we know who took it, but there was no proof, and we couldn't catch them red-handed. Since then, if there are people around who I don't know (in other words, anyone not playing hockey), I put my stuff in the penalty box.

I've never had any problems at an ice rink or indoor roller, but there are times at our private ice session when people walk in off the street to watch us play, and the locker rooms are always unattended. hmm..

3 or 4 years ago, some ass who played the ice time before ours at Ottawa U. asked if he could play with our group right after. He leaves half way through the game, people thought he was done playing. That day, the last guy out of the change room forgot to lock the door and arm the security system, so the guy who left early goes through everybody's things and takes all of our cash. The only up side was he didn't take our wallets or any of our ID as well.

Later that season at the same arena, one guy had his aluminum shaft stolen from the stick rack by the change room doors as we were suiting up. You'd figure out of 10 guys, someone would see someone walk in and take something, but I guess there were too many people walking in at once or something.
