Pro stock mission blades

Recommended Posts

Two I know of ordered. One person didn't bother picking up their blades because of duty fees and Stampeder had a little problem/delay with HM not sending out his complete order.

Yikes! That tells me they charge just as much for duty as the blades are worth. I know UPS charges the GST plus a random charge of $25-75 for brokerage.

Korsined, don't even think about ordering from HM without getting ripped off by UPS. If you really feel the need to, i suggest making a big order because it's hard to pay more in UPS fees than what your actual order costed.

Unfortunately, I suspected that. Too bad Perani's/Hockeyworld didn't carry some pro stock's. They were great shipping cross border.

They do ship worldwide express but for 4 blades it was $60. I'm pretty sure that would not have brokerage charges. UPS only charges insane amounts for ground shipping. I guess kind of a way to force you to pay for faster shipping.

Anyone picked up a Parise? How close is it to, say a Modano?

Also, anyone know the lie on the Parise and Elias?

I have parise and Elias

all i can say is parise is IDENTICAL (lie and curve wise) to a retail Ovechkin.

look in the show it off thread...i hav no idea how to tell a lie, but there are pics of the Elias (square and round) in there

Don't bet on it. I've had friends buy $400 clearance pads and get hit with $500 in brokerage fees.

It's extortion. They'll charge whatever they want, based on two apparent criteria:

1) how much they think they can scam out of the receiver ;

2) how much they want to keep the item.

Again I question what's so good about living in Canada. Yeah you have hockey, but it's a shit-ton more expensive than the States.

Universal health care, no Patriot Act, no George Bush, higher valued currency, lower crime rates... these are some of the good things about living in Canada.

I like the chance of not dying whilst waiting in an ER, but other than that the others aren't a big deal and/or temporary.

Very true, especially here in Alberta. Waiting lists are looooooong.

Let's not step on toes guys ;) . Maybe in the OT forum :P .

So how are these pro stock blades holding up?...We've had a few months to test them out...whats everyone think of the durablity?

The finished composites seem indestructible; the unfinished ones apparently had some problems with chipping or fraying, which TBLfan fixed by strategically applying epoxy to the blades.

I'm going to think about doing that myself, or using a polyurethane dip.

So how would someone go about dipping or applying epoxy or poly to the blades...I think that may be a bit over my head...Anyway curious to the process though.

Well you could take a foam brush and a can of Minwax polyurethane and wipe it on. Several thin coats would probably be better than one thick one to make sure they dry. And do it outside or in the garage, because the fumes aren't good for you. You could even take some tack cloth and make a pattern when it's still gummy, or spread sand for the Z-tac coating.

^^ What he said.

I'm a little concerned about the way PU would dry, so I might just put a bead of two-part epoxy around the edge of the blades.

Just curious if anyone knows which blades are finished and which are not? More specifically Id like to know which:

RH tapered blade patterns have been found to be finished and unfinished?

Go back and look through the pictures. Even between the 3 patterns I got there was a difference in finish though. All of the carbon has been covered, but if you see a good shiny black (especially with stickers) then it's had finishing work.

The 3 I had all varied, like I said. The Langs were the least coated while the Deadmarsh and 266 both looked a bit darker and smoother and had few to no holes where the weave let the epoxy seep in. The Lang I got from TBL had a dried drip on the toe that I sanded off.

I'm going to use the first one and see how long it lasts me, and if it's longer than a month or two then I probably won't treat the second. I'm taping the whole blade in the "sock" fashion to try and keep the damage down as well.

I ordered two heatley blades (~3/8 drury) about a month ago and i have been using them extensively on and off ice. Suprisngly, i have not lost any stiffness what so ever in either blade. No chipping, nothing. The blades have been absolutely spectacular. Mind you, I play 5 to 6 times a week, and then frequent off ice shooting. Just a side not, the heatley blades are just a tad thick, but extremely stiff non the less.

Bumping, ordering today.

Strolled through the entire thread without any pics or answers, but is there anything close to a lefty Modano in the Mission composites?

so i tried searching around and for whatever reason I can't get the videos to load on the hockey monkey website...but the blades in my L2's are starting to get a little soft. They are a Hull curve (basicly a forsberg clone) 5 lie, mid curve with a rounded toe and a neutral face. somebody help me out here

Oddly enough, I'm looking for a new stick as my L-2 blades are going soft.

But isn't the Hull an Iginla clone, 5.5 mid curve, slightly open? I've got two Hulls and two Elias, and the Elias is the Modano clone, 5 lie, mid heel, neutral face, round toe.

Oh, and you need to download Flash to get the videos to work.

I'm not sure - I know on their website they usually list it as Hull / Leopold 2 when your looking at sticks. Your though right 5.5 lie mid curve, but a neutral face.

they don't list a hull under the prostock blades (i'm a lefty), which might be for the better, I saw those pictures of someones Hull blade at the start of the thread and it looked horrible.
