Oakley visor Question.

Recommended Posts

Hello all. Just bought an Oakley pro aviator without vents. Do I really have to use their spray? Is it safe to use my Itech wipes that I used with my old visor?

I have a similiar "problem" (well its not a prob, but i want to ask instead of making something dumb).

I own a visor, either a Itech or an Oakley. Its prostock and someone ripped the sticker off and i cant tell which brand it is. So cause of this coating thing im not sure if i should use any cleaner-thing.

At the moment i use this shampoo method and i think i might stick with it.

I have an oakley visor and i have been using itech liquid but it works pretty bad in terms of 'fog free'. Would it be good to buy some Oakley AFR or is it too late and my visor specifics are "ruined" ??

Thanks.

Using pretty much anything but Oakley AFR solution will cause your Oakley visor to crystallize and make it difficult to see through in well lit rinks since the lines created within the visor will catch and reflect the light.

If you have Oakley, why not just use AFR? It works great and the bottle lasts a long time if you don't go crazy with it. Use a clean cloth and you'll get good results. I use a plain white cotton undershirt. I don't know how AFR could have returned "gross" results for someone. They must have been using a filthy rag or they weren't really using AFR.

The only way to know if something besides AFR will work on an Oakley is to actually try it, but who would risk it on a brand new visor? A good idea is for someone who is replacing their Oakley (due to game scratches, etc.) to keep the old visor around as a test surface for various cleaners. Put some cleaner on a Q-tip swap and dab a tiny area of the old visor to see if the cleaner works without crystalizing. Since you're only applying to a very small area, there should be plenty of space available to test several cleaners. While this is a good way to evaluate a cleaner, you wouldn't know how well it worked against fogging until you tried it in a game (once it passes the cleaner test).

does anyone use pledge on thier visors? A couple guys on my team do, but I think they're all itech visors. It seems to work well for them.

i have an oakley visor and use pledge, i haven't had any problems so far and it works great.
