Best Coach

Recommended Posts

Who do you guys think is the best coach in the NHL whether it is great play, strategy, or team morale, or whatever you think.

I'd choose Randy Carlyle of the Ducks. For team morale. I don't think he's one to put blame on or talk badly of his players. In the playoffs he said he just wants his guys to play 100% so I've liked him since then.

Lindy Ruff seems to be doing fine in Buffalo, he may have a star studded cast but you still need to get through to your players and make them work to their potential

MacT in Edmonton doesn't have quite the results of Ruff so far this year...but I think he's got players that love playing for him...and he knows the tradition of the team/city...because he was part of it the first time.

Ive always like Hartley(sp) from his Colorado days. I think hes doing a pretty good job in Atlanta, obviously not the best but his team is slowly coming around. As a Red Wings fan, i'll get back to you when we actually find a decent replacement for Bowman. <_<

Bob's a great guy but doesn't have as much to work with as some of the other coaches.

What do you guys think of Therien (PENS)? As to such comments when he said his defence was trying to be the worst/move. I'd say he was trying to ignite them and was truthful that they were not doing their best.

Comments?

I dont know that you can really judge who the best coach in the nhl is without having played there. Everyone in buffalo hated Lindy and Darcy, right up untill they started winning after the lock out. Now people call them the best GM and coach in hockey. You can only tell so much from the outside. You dont always win because of coaching, and you dont always loose because of coaching either. You could take the greatest coach ever, and if he had to coach a bunch of idiots they prolly wouldn't win much. Likewise if you gave a bad coach a ton of really skilled players, they'd make the coach look pretty good. right?

I totally agree with what you're saying but just in personal opinion who do you like. That's all. I like Carlyle because of his sight of things. Just if you like someone in particular for something that stands out to you though. But I do agree.

I think we should at least wait until the Pens don't come in last place before we can say they have the best of anything.

Well with the way Philadelphia is playing we might be talking sooner then you think :P

I'm pretty sure one of Hartley's tough guys claimed he was an idiot last season forcing him to fight whenever they were losing. I wonder about him with some of the stuff he does. I don't mind fighting or going after someone when I think it's deserved (as I showed in the Buff/Philly thread), but he'd do it just for grins.

I'd say Lemaire is one of the best c oaches in the leagues. He seems to make teams win when they shouldn't and has a habit of overachieving and adapting to different situations.

He never tells them to fight. In a situation like the Philly game, he would be questioning their character, work ethic, etc... He's a hardass but I like him.

Tally up another vote for Hartley. He's a helluva coach. He's the kind of coach you love coaching your team, and hate when he's coaching against you. I think he's done a great job with ATL, who have been one of the most exciting teams to watch since the lock-out.
