Prostock Warrior Dolomites

Recommended Posts

its a 260 so equivalent to an easton 90...it doesnt feel very stiff to me I usually use an 85 and its not that big of a change.

Its not really a 260......thats why...no idea what they all are..if you try 2 of the same curve one should feel stiffer than the other.....Guys trying diffrent flexes i believe and they just painted them up all the same or most of them anyway.....

There should still be some way for th3e players to know what stiffness the stick is at a glance. Prostock Innos usually used to have a stamp on them with stiffness, along with 2 other numbers (i think the weight of the shaft and the weight of the blade?). It's not a nice, finished marking, but looks like it was put on there with a rubber stamp.

Another idea would be to look for a sticker inside the shaft near the buttend.

It's only the handling fee ($4.99) for over $150 in goods from HM. Mind you, they do charge $9.99 extra for each stick though.

I'm in Alaska though and to them I may as well be in Uzbekistan. The only thing that eats more balls than HockeyMonkey is Pac-Man.

NEWS FLASH: BUYER BEWARE

For the most part, these sticks at Just Hockey and National Sports do not appear to be real pro stock / pro overrun Dolomites. I think they're just painted to look as such. I went to both stores today (at National they let me see the stuff in back because they're not on sale yet). The nine numbers on the side (indicating flex and weight) were missing (sticks just had flex on the side) and the sticks just felt very different from the pro Dolomites I have - so I had a hunch something was up. Some sticks felt glassy, others heavyish. So I popped off the plastic end cap to look at the sticker inside the shaft a bunch of sticks, and sure enough there was my answer. Most of the stickers said "Vapor 15" and some said "Royale". My guess - they took a bunck of unsold/extra inventory shafts, painted them like Dolomites and slapped on some pro names and curves to get rid them and make a few bucks. Smart marketing, especially given how popular these sticks have become in the NHL, but quite deceptive to the consumer. Do the retailers know? I wonder....

A couple of sticks were actually the real deal. The Kovalchuk I looked at said "Inno 1100" and the Hossa actually said "Dolomite", but these were more the exception than the norm. For the first time in a while, I left a store without buying a stick - a few of the curves were tempting (but not the Kovcalchuk which was like a big "U"), but I couldn't bring myself to spend the dough on a Ford Focus dressed up like a Mustang (no offence to any Focus owners on here).

I guess the old adage of "you get what you pay for most of the time" is true.

EDIT: I don't know anything about the sticks at Hockeymonkey or Peranis, I'm just referring to the ones at National and Just Hockey...

EDIT x 2: Just called Peranis in Windsor and they looked at one that also said "Vapor" (couldn't read the number).

Especially when it comes to Inno/Warrior

I bought a Pro-Stock Warrior Kovalchuk from Peranis Windsor sight unseen figuring it to be like the other Kovy's I use. Well, this one is nothing like it. It's basically a straight blade with a toe hook. Hard to use so far, but fun. It reminds me of Prospal's toe-hook.

if mine ends up being like that, would it be wrong to make hockeymonkey pay for return shipping to them for it? i mean, they're responsible for what they're selling, right?

Just got this:

Nationals are pro stock, they just weren't all originally dolomites. As has been mentioned numerous time in the past, what a pro stick looks like is unrelated to what it really is underneath. Any anger over the sticks should be directed to Warrior and not National in this case, they are correct in the way they describe the sticks.

that's interesting. so more or less, what they're saying is that you're getting a pro stock stick, which is what you're paying for. & you should be happy with that, even if it's not really a dolo?

why would warrior make a 'pro stock' royale to begin with?

It probably wasn't a real Royale either. Some guys like heavier sticks, not everyone has to have the lightest thing out there. I'm not really a fan of what they're doing but it's not uncommon for Inno/Warrior and the big box stores.

I think Kovy has at least two different curves, the one posted a million times on here and the one you're talking about. One of the guys I'm coaching picked up 3 Innovative 1100 Kovy returns and it's a big toe hook, not the curve that i've been seeing on here. Also that big toe hook is just that... BIG, it's definitely illegal in the NHL.

Sounds like our members should do a little research before purchasing an item then. Know what your player is using. Most of the names listed I was a little skeptical about. I know Schaefer and Kovalev both use standard blade combo's so an OPS was a little weird, especailly since there appears to be alot out there.

I'd also be skeptical about Nationals SLs, I know they aren't all the same across the board.

Flash - What were the blades like on the "Royales"? Since those aren't checkerboarded like the Warriors, and the Pro Innos seem to have a unique look, this may be a way for the buyers to know whether it's the real deal or not.

Looks like Hockey monkey got rid of a few of the patterns, I was going to get some Parise's but now Im abit skeptical if they are actually dolomites or some low end stick repainted.

I originally wanted a couple of Larsens's but it looks like they never actually had them.

Can't recall what blades were on what sticks. Some had the checkerboard, some did not.

They've got flexes and comparisons to Easton patterns now. Looks like the Kovalchuk #3 has disappeared though.
