Warrior Smyth pattern

Recommended Posts

What is the closest retail pattern to the Warrior Smyth pattern. The nearest I can figure is that the Jokinen looks about the closest when considering lie/curve depth etc. Anyone have any suggestions?

(I'm sort of turned off Warrior because I haven't had much luck with their durability.)

Recchi

It's not as deep but the curve type and lie are much closer than anything else that I can think of right now. Next would be Lindros.

I thought mack said his looked like an yzerman?

It's not a 6 lie and I believe that lie is the most important point of comparison after the curve type. The ones I've seen also seem to have a slimmer profile than the Yzerman.

Jokinen is a heel, Smyth is a toe. compete opposites.

edit: Not sure how closely they stack up, but Easton's Shanahan and Bauer's P10 (old Gagne) were also toe curves. (both have been discontinued.)

That Smyth blade is a toe curve in name only. That thing starts hooking mid/heel and just bends into a banana; trust me, I own it. I also own a Shanahan, and they are nothing alike.

What is the lie of the Smyth?

About a 5, but its got a ton of rocker so its a little hard to measure. It was definately higher than the Federov (Easton Forsberg) but lower than the Draper (Easton Drury).

5.5 ish hard to tell with the rocker but it is real close to the gaborik which is a 5.5 while the yzerman is a 6

How would a TPS Sundin stack up with the Warrior Smyth?

Not even close. I have both.

The closest I have found is Bauer's Naslund. It's about the same lie with a bit more loft but it has less curve.

FWIW, my Warrior Smyth is a mid/toe. The heel is almost completely straight.

I just played for the first time with my Smyth and I used to use Modano/Forsberg blades. It felt just a tad lower than Modo/Foppa. As far as I've seen there's nothing else like it, nothing else really close to it anyway. Because this is the first time any company's made about a 5-ish toe curve I've noticed. Even though the Sakic and lots of others are 5.5, that's too high for me. The Smyth seems perfect.
