any info on Vapor "XX lite" stick?

Recommended Posts

I hope I'm not repeating a topic-- I searched and couldn't come up with any conclusive results...

Last week, after a particularly frustrating night of missing the net in a men's league game I was thinking about the Vapor XXX lite I had at the end of last season (102 flex Lindros pattern) that was my favorite stick EVER for it's short life-- I broke it near the heel after a month or so, (and I never break OPSs) cut it down and put a Synthesis II blade in and invested in a composite end plug, and literally, the next day snapped the damn thing in half. I found this stick on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Nike-Bauer-Vapor-X...1QQcmdZViewItem

and in spite of the cost, bought it, since it seemed so unique and still less than an actual XXX lite.

I'm curious if anyone has had any experience with it-- is it similar in construction to the XXX lite-- true monocomp and all that, or is it just a paint job? I know it's a little odd to be asking for info after I've already bought it, but it hasn't come in the mail yet, and I'd like to prepare myself for any disappointment since I'm already feeling guilty about making a crazy-ass impulse purchase like this.

thanks

Two? See how there are three "\ \ \" marks on there as well as a dull black paint on the bottom part of the stick?

I'm with Mack.

If you zoom in you can clearly see 3 X's.

Edit: I'm talking about the first picture from Sportsline.

if you look at the one i posted you can clearly see two

edit: i don't get it thought, if they wanted it to look like a vapor xxx-lite for marketing why wouldn't the just put three Xs on it

Well, I guess there's no real consensus or opinions on the performance of the stick, except that it definitely doesn't say "lite" anywhere on the stick.

It looks to me like this picture shows a fuse point too:

(if the link doesn't work, it's the 6th pic from the top in the expanded pictures section)

so maybe it is a Vapor XX with a XXX lite paint job. I'll post again when I get the stick and let everybody know what it's like. Kind of a shame to pay all that for a Vapor XX though.

I got the stick last night after I got back from a beer league game and tried it out at lunch time open stick. It felt a little clunky at first, certainly none of the pinginess of the XXX lite. The fuse point is very pronounced, so it's definitely not monocomp. Very open in the toe, so that took some getting used to. Feels nicely balanced, maybe even a little more solid and slightly heavier than a regular Vapor XX. If it lasts and stays in one piece it'll have been a good purchase.

My buddy bought a "XX Lite" from the Canucks equipment sale. I'm pretty sure he thought it was an Ohlund XXX lite, but it was a XX. It said 0.748? instead of Monocomp Technology.

About that picture that people were debating whether it said XX or XXX. I'm pretty sure when i zoomed in I saw two x's. It looks like an M, /\/\. The X's roll over to the top of the shaft, so from the side it looks like that.
