John LeClair is on waivers

Damn, Renberg, brings back terrible memories of the Rangers getting their ass kicked in the '97 playoffs

A sad end to a solid career....

Who says its over? He would have retired if he didn't believe a team wouldn't claim him on re-entry waivers. Although it maybe be tough for him cosidering Peter Bondra has yet to be signed which is unbelievable in my opinion.

Used properly he can still contribute but the Pens have not played that style of game in a long time. He still has quick hands and a big body, you can always use him in front of the net on the PP.

They were saying last night on the Devs-Flyers game that he has been in contact with the Flyers, or vice-versa, and that they are interested. He has good standing with a lot of the higher-ups and they would like to see him come back if possible.

I guess the contact wasn't that good 'cause he made it through waivers. I sorta think he won't report then they'll trade him for some nothing pick.

But Pittsburgh can re-call him and then he goes through re-entry waivers and he can be picked up at half of his remaining salary for the year...(about $500,00).

I don't think that has happened yet...

I don't see him getting called up unless a lot of injuries happen. I think they have no interest in him at all and just waived him thinking he would get picked up.

He's still on the Pitts books as long as he is in the Minors...they may call him up in hopes that someone takes him, then only half his salary stays on their books.

Part of the reason Bondra has not resigned anywhere is because he wanted to try to stay close to his family and kids this year (they live in annapolis).

He trained with some of the caps out at ashburn ice rink before training camp this year, and looked to be in great condition. I think he was looking at staying east cost, mid-atlantic area.

However, I do think he will sign somewhere, he is only 2 goals away from 500, so I think it will stick in his craw to be so close.

According to Eklund, the magnificent psychic, he is close to signing with Toronto, Chicago, Islanders, Blues and Bruins.

So basically, he is saying everyone who needs scoring is close to signing him.

God I hate eklund, if he told the truth once, he would probably explode

This reminds me of that old SportsCenter commercial when they (the show, that is) "draft" some kid "straight-out of high school." The kid is a disaster and, at one point during a baseball intro, says "Jimmy Key? What's he, like, 45? I could hit him."

LeClair and Bondra are both a little...um..."seasoned" for the new NHL.
