Wow.......13 years old!?

Its a good thing none of you saw that video out of Brantford, Ontario about 35 years ago of this little kid scoring and passing like a maniac. I'm sure most of you would have said he's too small, slow, and wouldn't make your AAA team. I think the kid wore 99 in the NHL.

Man, one thing I've noticed over the years is hockey players just don't want to give other players their due. I'll remark on the bench, "Number 19 is pretty good." Invariably, someone will say, "No, he's not!"

That's just human nature, Salming. It's not just hockey players. It has a related syndrome: loving to watch the mighty fall.

Same thing for me here. Very talented young men.

Could care less about the moves. I was more impressed on how solid he was on his skates and confidence with the puck at that age.

Pretty good stuff.

The only thing I mean is I know so many young players who can do the Hisey or Crosby moves. Those moves just look bigger then they really are.

But the way he moves and skates doesn't lie, the kid is certainly an all-star.

the competittion is called....A SKILLS COMPETITION!!! It's not, what can you do in a game situation, or else they wouldnt need skills competitions...this is for fun just to do a little showboating and see what you can do...cut the kid some slack. At least that is my opinion, take it for what it is worth.

That's pretty sick..I am 14 and would have a little trouble pulling of one or two of those tricks. Whoever said he was impressed with his confidence with the puck, I am with you...confidence is a major part in handleing the puck.

Also, I like the head moves he gave..I gotta go try that ha

Also in defence of the kid, he didn't have a showboat celebration after he scored. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that it was a skills event and everyone there was wanting him to do that stuff.

Hopefully he has a complete game and isn't thinking the circus act is the way to get ahead in the wonderful world of ice hockey.

I love seeing these kids show so much talent at such a young age. I appreciate talent and effort at any age... but the kids just take my breath away.

Maybe they should consider getting a goalie with an ounce of hockey sense. If you see anyone pulling that hisey bullshit then you pokecheck or at the very least knock him on his ass. The only semi-decent move was the swede aka Forsberg but he barely pulled that off.

who said that he was the bset in the world? hater! <_<

What? wasn't Wayne Gretzky #99??

:P

BTW, hot dogging or not, this guy has great skating and puck handling skills. For those of you who ask whether or not he can play as a team, the guy's 13, there's still time for him to learn these team skills if he doesn't have any. I'm not judging him on that.

Would you take your purse to him? ;)

he seems good and all, but he didnt score on most of the stuff. plus if he tried to do that stuff in a game his head would be knocked off

this kid reminds me of rob schremp from the oilers. all crazy stick skills but can't even make it to the nhl

it doesn't help that the oilers are so stacked with forwards

same here with my team. i've pulled a couple of those moves in warm-ups and pond hockey, but the only move he did that i would be confident doing in a game would be the first 3 or so. the whirly-bird and stuff.......yeah, not gonna happen for me. also, this kid is 3 years younger than me. i was 14 the first time i ever ice skated......so i'd say he's doing just fine.

For being a 13 year old, that Kid is Incredibly smooth on his skates. Everything he does is so fluent. Im 18 and I wish I looked that good on skates.

He is only 20 years old and again the Oilers don't have their own farm team hence they can't control the ice time of their players. He will be in the NHL in short order.

Yeah, fuck the showboating skills this kid looks like he's started working on what counts the most, skating.

They showed a clip of him the other day on RDS, they said he was in a tournament in the Montreal region and I think he is from that region also.

EDIT: His name is Kevin Roy and he currently plays at the Academie St-Louis in the Quebec City region.

Edit ... 6:54 local time . The interview just finished and the kid did good.
