Sid the Kid having fun against the poor Flyers

2 minutes to go in the 2nd and Crosby already has 5 points. Dominant is the least i can say. I had not seen him recently, it's a good thing this game is on TSN.

Damn versus showing BBQ cookoffs

why doesn't CBC play games during the week?

NBC will only televise when there's nothing else going on, FSN is only local, vs. doesn't like to play many games, TSN is canada-only, CBC is (99%) Saturday only....

and Bettman wonders why people aren't watching the sport?

BECAUSE WE CAN'T!

What a let down. Crosby could have easily had 10 if he actually wanted to. The power plays were a joke, no chemistry at all between most of the Pens. If they started clicking they could actually start putting up 8 against real teams instead of the bottomfeeders of the league. Nice night by Crosby though.

The coach was not playing him at all

Sure but when he was on the PP he was just dishing the puck off when he had perfect scoring chances. Hes Sidney Crosby for christs sake, even Mike Riberio could score from the hash marks with that much time :P

Not taking away from his night, but how many of those were off rebounds or second assists?

Thats how most of his assists are...can't blame HIM for that though.

Pretty impressive anyhow.

i thought it was funny that 2 of the penguins goals hit hatcher and then went in - its like hatcher has bad karma for all the molesting of crosby he did earlier in the season

i agree with eazy - the best goal of the game happened with like 6 seconds left - he faked niittymaki right out of his pants

Damn versus showing BBQ cookoffs

They already showed games the last two nights, that's a lot more regular than ESPN was in the last year or two of their contract. If you want to see more hockey, get the center ice package.

his assist on malones goal hit somebody and landed on malones blade, another he made spinning keep at the line and hit recchi in the same motion and recchi found gonchar. i think 3 were second assists/rebounds

They are legit, no doubt and he controlled the flow on most, but I just noticed he got alot of breaks in the point department.

The Malone goal, there was a Recchi rebound where he found Mark infront, then the Gonchar deflection, then the final assist was also a second.

This isn't the Russian Super League.. Second assists actually count so it really isn't necessary to differentiate between them. Im sure all of Sittlers assists we're primaries  Although, i'll still take his night (6 goals, 4 assists) over a 1 goal, 9 assist night from Crosby

I'm just trying to think of other such perfomances, and I believe they were mostly goals. Lemieux had one in the late 90s, I believe a 7 point effort, Sundin had a 5-6 point night last year against FLA, I believe both were mostly goals or set-ups by them.

Guess you haven't heard the new nickname of second assist Sid yet?

Because most players aren't good enough to control the flow of the game like he did, which I have mentioned in this thread. It's just a general comment on how the Penguins weren't reliant on him to do everything this game and how they created nice plays around him as well. No need for the Crosby defense lights to go off, I like the kid, just noticed that alot of his points were second assists.

Just unusual to see a 6 point night like that.

I can't believe he had a 6 point night and people are trying to belittle it because 3 of the helpers were second assists. If you actually had the chance to watch the game, you would have seen that even on the 2nd assists, the only reason the goal ever came about was because of Sid. I rarely get to watch him play, but the way he dominated play last night was amazing. Every time he touched the puck it seemed as if he set up a scoring chance.

I realize that there are a lot of Crosby haters, but don't try and pick apart what was a great performance. This kid is 19, still eligible to play for the world juniors, and he's ontop of the NHL scoring race with games in hand and a couple of nonames as wingers. The truth is he is quickly showing that he is the best player in the world. A little more time, and nobody is going to be even close. I just wish he was on a Western Conf. team so I could see him play more often...even if it meant he'd be tearing the Canucks a new hole every couple weeks, lol.

Not a single post is taking anything away from him.

Its not the wave on top of the ocean coming in that will kill you. Its the rip tide underneath that will pull you out and kill you. There is always an undercurrent of anti-Crosby in every 87 thread.
