NBH 4500 helmet

Recommended Posts

Not happy with the goofy fit of my CCM HT500, I decided to invest using some of Santa's funds and picked up a Nike Bauer 4500 helmet via hockey.com for about $45 total. I've read some good reviews of this bucket on this site, and this will be my first venture into the Bauer helmet world, as I've been a Cooper/CCM man in the past (and a few ill-fated Itech years...*chills*).

So Bauerheads, pimp your lids and reinforce to me that Bauer helmets are where it's at...

And 4500 owners, talk about how much this helmet has changed your life...

I've been wearing the 3000/4000/4500 since I was in like peewee's I had a 5000 for a year but didn't like it (Team helmet) but its light, comfortable, the 3000/4000 cracked by the screw holes but they seem to have made that area differently on the 4500 and mine hasn't cracked yet, solid helmet, you'll like it.

Makes your head look smaller [plus], and is an extremely well put-together dome. I wear the 5000 now, and I like that even more than the 4000/4500

I'm the same way. My new 4500 has been holding up great, although I've used it only a couple dozen times. My old Nike 0004 (same as Bauer 4000) was my favorite helmet ever, too bad I used it for five years and beat the hell out of it.

Great helmet- I have been using the 3000/4000 since they came out. My only complaint was the cracking around the top and side screws. With that fixed on the upgraded 4500 shell, it's the perfect helmet( and the only one that dosen't look goofy on my little pin head).

i don't use one but it's definitely the best looking helmet. i might get one but the medium's a little small and the large is a little big so i don't know.

I never really paid too much attnetion to it before, but it seems the dominant brand of helmet in the NHL is NBH. CCM is definitely losing some steam.

Even in my beer league and at tourneys, I'd say the majority of helmets are Jack Bauer.

if you're looking for a bit wider helmet than you got one. I barely fit width wise in a 692 and my 652 is narrower(almost too tight). I have a HT400 and it's a bit wider than the 692 and deeper but still not as wide as a Bauer 4500(I'm pretty sure).

My buddy has gone through a Nike version, and a Bauer version. Both snapped by the screws behind the ears. Apparently NikeBauer fixed that.

I've been using my Bauer 4000 for a year now. Only less expensive helmet I could find in XL and it fits pretty well, though I have some issues. It's taken quite a few jaunts while being used in goal for broomball, and I like the truevision cage quite a bit. I took a slapshot to the cage and it isn't bent or snapped at all.

i think the 4500 is one of the narrowest helmets.

really? maybe I'm confusing it with a different bauer. I know that all the bauers I tried on felt wider than my 652.

The 4000 has definitley been my favorite helmet over the years. It's light, fits me perfect, and offers enough protection for the mellon. Any time I've tried another helmet I've always come back to the 4000. Only complaint has been one that others have already mentioned which is the cracking around the screws. Looks like NBH has that taken care of with the 4500.

I went from the 1000 to the 4500, and I love it.

The only oddity is my cage from the 1000 seems almost too wide for the 4500, which is strange because the old helmet was a large, this is an XL, but thats nothing to do with how much I love the actual helmet
