WARNING 2007 Vector 10.0 ops

Recommended Posts

Hi, I don't know if this is the right place to say this, maybe in the review threads but I think its important that you know this about the new vector 10.0 ops. I'm not sure if its a bad first batch or not but I've broken two of these sticks in 3 ice times. The sticks are regular flex (85) but seem to be more whippy as they have a longer taper. Both sticks broke right about where a tapered shaft blade would fit. Both sticks seemed to break on low slap shots, also I had not played one regular season game with them both broke durring casual (drop-in) hockey. I'm about 5'10 178 ive been using 85 flex in other sticks (warrior, bauer, even older vector models) so I dont think the problem is that I'm too strong for it. The stick retailed for about $259.99 before tax and I feel ripped off, I'll be phoning ccm tomorrow regardless if they do anything or not, which I doubt they will.

Yeah thats the one exactly. I never even thought about that when I bought it, but you'd think the retail version maybe would last a little bit longer as he's an NHL player and im 16. I mean 2 breaks in 2 days, and now there's no more warranty.

Ovechkin has gone back to the old vectors after snapping them so much it put him off his game. He was talking about it after a few games.

There was one game (can't remember which one) recently, where he broke 2 in warmups, 2 in the first period, one in the second and 2 in the third, for a total of 7 sticks in one game.

That one was on TSN...In the first 3 minutes of the game he had 4 shifts....2:00 minutes of ice time and 2 broken sticks.

Why was there no more warranty? Did the warranty only last for one stick? If so, that sucks. Definitly notify CCM, they may do something.

There was only a warranty on the first one. So basically I payed $259 for 2 and a half ice times.

Well since ovy broke so many and you broke yours on your first time using it why not just sell the replacement? I mean you could have recouped your money somewhat....

Yeah I could have done that but I was unaware that they broke like that I thought that maybe the first one was defective so I got the warranty.

I was at that game....at the MCI center against the Ottawa Senators. I came in right as the game started (section 203) and I watched the stick break twice in the first couple of minutes. On the first shot he cranked down on the stick and you could here the stick pop. The second break was really odd..he didn't even shoot...he was stickhandling when it just fell into two pieces....it was strange.

Anyway...there is definitely way too much give in those flex shafts.

If you havnt already, explain your situation to them. Sometimes in situations like theese companies will realize "hey, even the one we gave him is messed up," and correct it to keep your business. Explain your situation and see if there is any thing else they can do.

Frankly I don't want another one of there sticks its useless to me as I dont feel confident in them lasting. I wouldn't sell either since I dont wanna put some one in a situation like Im in. I just want them to know that I will not buy another ccm product and thats it. If they wanna do somthing so be it.

I don't think that's really fair for a company. If they listen to your situation and are willing to help you out and maybe give you something that might last(say not a first production run), i think you should take them up on it and try it. It's not really fair to base your judgement off of one kind of stick probably from the same production line that obviously isn't working as it should. CCM has been in the game a long time, you don't stay in the game long if all their products had issues like this apparently does.

BTW if you're soo anti-ccm you might want to change your avatar... hope you don't own anything RBK... I wonder who made the jersey you wear.

Don't lose faith in a company because of one incident, give them a chance to help you first.

it's understandable to be frustrated about this type of thing, especially a young person that doesn't have 'disposable' income.

hopefully CCM will make it right.

Agreed, I was just hoping to bring to light that most people use THC products whether it be sock and jerseys or full equipment... And that they're relatively reliable(no less than any other company). It's just a bit extreme to write off an entire company based on a single product, a new one at that.

Who knows whether it's going to end up like the v130 or that they're going to revamp and fix the issues with the sticks.

Hopefully they'll help you out, but honestly could you really blame them if they didn't? It's not part of the warranty you agreed to when you purchased the stick. Although that does suck, it is a fact of life... But it never hurts to ask, maybe you'll be surprised at not only their response but the quality of what you get(I'd ask for a 10.0 or a high-end rbk since they're having issues with these sticks).

You guys are right I shouldn't right off a company but my feelings are that if I get another stick and the same thing happens to it than I still feel like Im being ripped off, im sure you guys see where im comming from?

definitely, I think you'd have to be a fool to not understand that you'd be upset. I'd call them and tell them what your problem is and maybe ask them to give you an old 10.0, a sickick or something that you'd be happy with. I think at this point getting one of the same sticks might be a bad idea, and obviously so do you. Let them know that you feel this way and hopefully they'll listen.

I was just looking into purchasing one or two of these sticks and after reading this I'm definitely going to hold off and maybe get an old vector 10.0 although the last one snapped on me after about 3-4 months although at least I got plenty of game time out of that one. Thanks for the thread
