Maybe Cascade meant December 2007

Recommended Posts

It looks like Cascade is a little late in getting their helmet information out to the public. Maybe they meant next December. I would really like to see more information on their new helmet line, but it looks like I have to wait. Doesn't really do much for your image if you are trying o build a consumer base and you don't deliver on your promises.

Ive been checking daily so that I can check them out as I'm in the market for a new helmet.

I am a little dissapointed seeing that they are coming out with a new lacrosse helmet when I just got their top helmet 2 weeks ago.

MDamson - no company owes anything to the public this time of year. Technically you guys should be finding out about the 07 line in March-April - that is how it always was before we hit the scene.

I already have the specs on the helmet. More will be unveiled after the show.

JR,

What, if anything, are they doing different (Padding, etc..) with this helmet?

Is it true Mark Kelso (Ex-Buffalo Bill) helped with the design of this helmet?

Thanks,

-Jim

That helmet is alot nicer than I pictured it would be. Really looking forward to checking one out. The different color combos is a nice touch also.

JR,

Thanks for the link, hopefully the new tech will help prevent concussions.

I'm pretty sure that Mark Kelso assisted in the R&D of that helmet. I have a "source" that works in sports medicine at Univesity at Buffalo. Rumor has it that, in addition to the development of "a new helmet", two Doc's have an alternative therapy for treating concussions, excercise. Apparently they put together a comprehensive workout regimen (sport specific) and the athlete works through it. Tim Connolly and three un-named Rangers are currently trying it out. In addition, the Bills medical staff, Niagara U, UB & Buff State medical staffs have all shown interest in this treatment. As a Sabres fan I sure would like to see Connolly healthy for the playoffs!

Looks like I was a little premature in my post. Great to see that they have gotten approval and had the site up as the USA Hockey Magazine went to press. I looked at the ad in the magazine closely and it looks like it has a bunch of rubber honeycomb type construction in the padding. As impact is taken, the honeycombs look to collapse and disperse the energy. Pretty smart. I will probably be looking to purchase one in the near future. Does Cascade have any NHL'ers under contract to get the helmet noticed?

No, but before you buy something like that, you just might want to wait and see what else will be coming out......they aren't the only ones who got approval.

Last I heard they thought Connolly had a neck problem and not post concussion syndrome.
