Does anyone here like to collect sticks?

Recommended Posts

That makes me feel like I need to take care of my collection even faster now. Out in a rotation I have about 15 shafts (obviously back-ups of outdated shafts) and maybe 10 OPS. Then in the storeroom I have a team bag full of various OPS and shafts.

Your fine Mack. Thats just my OPS' and not counting the dozen or so woodies and all the shafts I still have. I have cut down on the shaft nicely though. I wont be listing those.

I don't necessarily collect but I do have maybe a half dozen or so wooden sticks in my place in various states of use due to the fact I would get a new one when I noticed the blade starting to fall apart. I figure I'll save them for floor hockey.

I am quite sure that nearly everyone that has posted on this board has some sort of Obsessive Stick Fixation Syndrome (I call it O.S.F.S.). Thats pretty much how I started on here, and I'm sure alot of other members can agree, all because we want to know about the latest and greatest gear, so we can got to our "LHS's" or ebay or Hockeymonkey and buy equipment at outrageous prices we really could do without. Just think MSH... You're helping sell tonnes of hockey gear for many LHS workers who go online and post, good job, and way to market products - even if you didnt intend to.

Last count I was at 13. I'm constantly scouring ebay for sticks and gloves, but rarely do i actually buy. Usually only if it's a good deal.

So very true...I look and look, but never buy, unless I need a stick and the deal or specs are perfect... After seeing how many sticks others have I don't think my Dad should be freaking out about my expenses either, although I talk about the stuff all of the time (everyone's sick of hearing me), I only have 1 stick over $200 thats actually in one piece, but when I get outa the house, I'm sure that number wull rise sufficiently, and the exact opposite will happen with my wallet...

By the way, where did you guys pick up the Synergy SE's Because I've been looking for one for Awhile now. Were they from the Easton toy drive? 'cause I would like to hear what that was all about, because im pissed that I missed it. And there's not many shops with good prostocks in Vancouver here either Although I heard that one had some repaired Elite's

Just bought a couple AK-27s with CNT Z-Carbons...they'll be going head-to-head with the Pulses. The winners stay...the losers go.

Wow...this is sad. I JUST bought the fucking Missions.

I found sticks that work for me so I stopped buying a lot of new ones. They're tools and I don't collect tools.

Yeah, I stopped getting variants to try out and so I just whore up on any of my favourite shafts and Arnotts. Even then it's still sickening.

My name is Methane, and I'm a stick fondler.

The great thing is I've been able to resist my temptation to buy so far. I do spend more than an hour in the stick room at the local Hockey World when I'm in there. It drives the old lady up the wall. :P I think the reson I don't have at least one of everything is the prices of OPS, plus I'm not a great player so I don't think I need high end twigs. But I do like the way they look/feel.

Current stick stable:

2x Inno Novius - Mogilny (Fianlly broke down and bought the first one's twin.)

Inno 1100 w/L-2 Elias blade - This was an ebay stick. Not here yet.

Bauer Composite 1000 (light green fiberglass shaft)w/ Christian "Los Angeles" blade - This thing is at least 6 years old

Easton Ultra Kevlar woody - Not sure of pattern and again this thing is at least 6 years old.

I had a massive amount, above 13. Although I will have to come clean and say its not from LHS, but ebay.

But I sold almost all of them on here cause I realized I was running my moms credit card down.

ummm.... Torhs? You gave your mum the cash right??!! LOL

I currently only have 3 that are active in my quiver

Warrior Mac Daddy Jovo

CCM V130 Doan Pro (was Doan's stick)

Easton Synergy Lidstrom

I try and stay out of the shop as much as I can, because I'm always eyeing stuff up that I want, but really don't need.

Next up for me is a CCM V8 LeCavalier, and a Mission Leopold pattern.

Yes, I am a hockey stick addict. I personally blame composite sticks for my addiction, never was so interested in the varying types of wooden sticks. Last year I tried this approach where I would use different sticks in different situations, like a golfer using different clubs. Like if the team were were playing was weak I'd use a shorter stick with more curve for taking shots. If we were playing a team that was strong I'd use a longer stick for poke checking and with less curve so my backhand was better for keeping the puck in the zone. I pretty much just found it never worked like it was supposed to and just screwed up my puck handling. Though I do have a pretty collection. I also have a bit of a glove compulsion, but that's a different story.

I'm more interested in figuring the combined retail cost of those. I'd bet he has more cash tied up in sticks than I do in guns.
