New Easton Warranty

Recommended Posts

Just thought id let everyone know the new easton warranty policy coming up this year on the new SE sticks. Its kind of like the CCM/Rbk warranty with a twist. Every SE stick be engraved with a special unigue serial number. When purchasing this stick the LHS must attached a special Easton Warranty receipt after writing the serial number on the receipt to the original receipt from the store. So when sending in the broken stick the serial numbers on the stick and receipt must match. I guess this will prevent customers from just buying a new stick and using that receipt to send back their old sticks like it has been done for years since the 30 day warranty was issued. The rep told me that after this year the same warranty will be put into use on the rest of the Easton stick line but as far as 07 goes it will just effect the SE.

Actually no...the sticker is put on the original receipt.

The decal is not engraved - it is under the clear coat.

It essentially eliminates all types of fraud.

Would that # be on any of the CNTs? Because my pro stock CNTs have that 5 digit number i think it is, near the bottom.

Not a chance.

Since warrantly fraud adds so much money to sticks you would think that this would bring the price of sticks down a little bit.

Is the number engraved or peelable? cuz if you can peel it ppl will find ways to work around it cuz the endgraved REPLACEMENT wasnt enough to stop them, cuz some of my team mates screw easton they just scratch off where it says replacement pretty good so it looks like a skate mark, i give them shit all the time when they do this and they start getting pissed but i mean its fraud wtf do you want me to do.

The stick has two stickers on it. A peelable one that is put on the receipt, and one that is under the clear coat. Once the stick has been sold the retailer peels it off and puts it on the receipt. So...no more fake receipts.

There is no way you can scratch it off...the ONLY way you get a stick is if BOTH the serial on the sticker that is on the receipt and the label on the actual stick match.

It is foolproof.

Its only full proof if the retailer follows through on the warranty procedure as well. A retailer could simply leave the date blank on a hand written receipt if they chose to do so allowing the customer to fill in a appropriate date whenever the stick broke. Dont get me wrong i fully stand behind eastons attempt at its new warranty procedure. But there will always be a way around these warranties. I hope one day soon theyll just do away with warranties all together and just lower the prices on the sticks. Instead of selling a Stealth CNT for 175 with warranty, id say sell it for 80-90 w/o a warranty. just my 2 cents.

Easton will be asking dealers for copies of their store receipts to keep on file, to comparte with submitted receipts. Not many dealers hand write receipts, so scamming that way will be easily discovered.

It'll probably reduce the costs to the companies, but we're not going to see a dime of that coming our way in terms of sticker price.

If the retailer is doing that, they shouldn't be in business.
