Was that 20 people? They said they would talk to 20 people. I wouldn't recognize his face, but I'd get it if they said he played for Ottawa and led the league in +-. Truth be told, I might not recognize some of the Rangers if I saw them walking around the mall right away. But if I had a chance to really look at them and get hints, I'd be embarrassed as a fan if I didn't get who it was eventually.

And I know what you mean about not recognizing players off the ice...I got to a Dogs game REALLY early one night (like over an hour and a half before the game). I went down through the Media doors and a bunch of guys were kicking a soccer ball around in the hallway. I don't think I would've even been sure what team is was until one of the guys said "Hi Max..." as I walked by...a couple of the other guys laughed...(I was wearing my Maxime Lapierre jersey).

Keep in mind Toms pretty new in Ottawa. Minnesota is a huge hockey state, but Id bet you would get the same results if they had some one like Nick Schultz (who has even been here a while) walk around the Mall Of America, and talk to average people.

Several things are wrong with that:

a) hes not known because he doesnt do anything super flashy

B) hes gotta get the hell out of that town

c) he needs to be traded to Atlanta

d) 3 years and hes only improving

e) needs more ice time on the power play

The guy called it, I dont think it would be very humbling. Someone posted in another thread that they stood right next to MAF in a pitts. walmart or something like that, and not one person came up to him. I would be willing to be alot of sports players wouldnt be known out in public. When I worked for the Stars and watched them practice everyday I still couldnt get all of the guys right.
